CTX sniffs out my oldest find yet!

nolanation

New member
I got permission to a new spot today for a couple hours and had a great hunt GOING SLOW using the 11" coil and the CTX picked out the goods. 2 rosies, 1 merc, 1823 large cent! (MY FIRST), a "Parati Defendere" WWII bomb group badge, (possibly) another large cent, 4 wheats, and an old textile needles case. One of my best hunts. Found that large cent sitting about about 7" down. I haven't even ran it under any water. Any advice on cleaning it or should I leave her as is? Thanks for looking.

Incredible finds! You have one hell of an old site there. Can't wait to see what else you find there!!

That's a great lookin large! Try soaking it in olive oil for a week and then take a soft cloth to it.

Very Nice finds!!!

Really like bomber badge!!

Try some hydrogen peroxide 3 percent heat in micro wave and place coin in till it stops boiling then do it again and again. If your more aggressive you will remove the green patina that's on it and it will be all pits under it it just takes time to work but is much faster than olive oil.sube

Great haul from that spot - gotta be more goodies hiding. I agree with Sube - boil some hydrogen peroxide and work off the loose dirt with a toothpick.
