CTX first foundation hunt nets large cents, indian heads and more...:twodetecting:

I was granted permission to do detect a coworkers land that was the site of a farm in the mid 19th early 20th century. All that is left now is a lot of huge stone walls, the foundation and what's in the ground. I took the CTX out there and found some interesting items yesterday including an 1880's Indian head, two large cents, with one of them holed and dated 1851, a crotal bell, ANOTHER handful of harmonica pieces and for once practically a whole harmonica, some buttons, spoons and a nice buckle. I am using GoneHuntings settings and all of the items I recovered had a nice clean tone. The one large cent I found was very deep (close to the length of my lesche) but it was an unmistakable coin signal.
Next time I go I will not be silly enough to forget my small shovel for this type of location since it was very time consuming trying to carefully dig that deep....

Large cent recovery....

That buckle is sweet! I have one just like it. It is a batwing style and was in use in the 16 and 1700's. Also have to like those "holed" coins for they were intended NOT to be lost.

Great hunt Gary. Love that buckle

Thanks.. I will post a better picture of it when I get home...
