I found a message from a buddy of mine who said to search for:
m12 8 pin male field serviceable connector with ip68 rating

M12A-8PMM-IP68

I also get these to protect the connector when not in use. straps right around headphone cord....

if you need to know which 3 pins to connect to you can search my username. Minelabs original drawing which shows the pinouts is wrong. i posted the correct pins used and also a video back last year.

Is it possible to attach a pair of water proof ear buds to the male connector?
Thanks

Yes I have done it and it works great.[/quote]

Sweet..what band of water proof buds did you use..and did you rig some sort of tether to keep the wire from tugging on the connector?

I can not remember the brand, but they were from best buy. They were not the best ones they had available, but the original plug actually had a rubber sheath over it, and after I cut off the original plug I put the wires back through the sheath as it fit snuggly in the the back of the male CTX plug after the soldering was complete, and help prevent any tugging on the wires whatsoever. The hardest part was of course, soldering, as these wires are very tiny. There was also an issue of getting solder to stick to them, but a light brisking of sand paper did the trick. I also put some silicone in and around that sheath before I stuck it in the back of the male adapter to help seal things up. I will be post a picture here tomorrow of my headphones.

Nice job....i just got my connector in the mail...plugged it into my CTX..and it doesn't turn of the externally Speaker...!
My question is...do the headphones need to be attached in order for the speaker to shut off?
Thanks

The waterproof connector by itself changes nothing electrically. With no wires attached it is really just an extension of the existing plug. There is no change yet to feedback and tell the CTX something is connected.

Clock wise, use the first and second and third pins. Connect pins two and three will shut the speaker off..so you use the first and the combo to the two wires of.

Clockwise where - on the CTX which would be CCW on the male plug? Or clockwise looking into the male plub from the plug end?

Thanks

Greg

Yes

the ctx plug on the head phones, the male ..pin 1, goes to 7 on the female
pins 2n3 on the HP's goes to pins 6n5 on the female

Can anyone help figure out which color wires on the ear buds connect to witch pins..I understand witch side of the connector the wires go...there are two wires coming from earbuds...red and copper..!
Thanks
