OK not a real good comparison but I recently bought a CTX 3030. I sold my V3i a while ago and when I had it, I mainly used a 4X6 shooter coil in trashy places. I missed the V3i so I bought the CTX 3030. I also bought a 6" coil for the CTX. Two hunts now and the CTX is every bit as good as the V3i, maybe better. I could have afforded the Manticore but I always wanted a CTX. Now there are no regrets. CTX is not dead!!!!

Hi. The 4x6 shooter eclipse DD isn't one of the best coils White's had. What I'd recommend are the 6x8 DD S.E.F or the 7" Ultimate DD, both from Detech. Very deep, very sensitive. Using the 7" on my VX3 and it's deeper than the Whites 6x10DD ot 10 DD round. But what to say as you don't own a V3 any longer. But congrats to the 3030. Always wanted to use one, too, but I'm afraid of the weigh. Glad you like it. Good Luck & Happy Hunting.
The main reason I liked the 4X6 Shooter was because it was so accurate on ID. I dug very little junk. Weight on the CTX is not that bad. I bought a harness but it is a pain to use, since you must disconnect it everytime you dig. The CTX is every bit as accurate, but you are correct, I really wish I had a little bigger coil.
