CTX 3030 just shuts off when it wants???

I was out today and while hunting the machine just shut down. Sounded like I just lost the game. Now before you guys say theres something worng I called the head CTX 3030 trainer for Minelab and his did the same thing. Both for no reason. Just turn it back on and hunted with no other problems. He is ciontacting Minelab Monday. If other are having any problem please post as I can past the info along.

Almost like a sudden power drop caused the machine to shut down like it had a dead battery. I got that "Dead Battery" shut down tones.

But like you said I turned it back on and it continued to work fine.

I have hunted with the machine about 12 hours and it has only happened once. But it if continues I will be a little concerned.

Mine did that exact thing one time. Like you, I just booted it back up and it was fine after that.

Mine has done it a couple times if I take too long to dig a target and the coil is sitting over a bunch of trash.

Mine aint going any where.....

had a sweet day will post monday

too tired going to hit the pool....

happy trails

Mmmm if i remember correctly, didnt the e trac have that function?.. if you didnt press or change a setting for a certain period of time it would shut down automatically. maybe im thinking of another detector that did that.

It may be alive, and have its own will , minlab may have invented a living being, say nice things to it maybe it will behave

The Whites DFX had that function.-----The Etrac didn't---but of course It was always finding me those deep silver coins so fast that it never had a chance to shut down anyway! :heh:

Mine did this too, I started it back up and it worked fine. Strange to hear that others are finding this as well. Mine definitely was not "idle" when I had it happen as most sites I hunt are littered, so the "idle" time wouldn't explain this. Hopefully someone figures out what the problem is and shares the fix. HH -Marc

Happened to me tonight for the second time, what is annoying is if you are doing a geotrack you can't pull up your last one and view it to see where you have benn.

Yup Dr. Deus, I've had the same thing happen with my e-trac.

I dunno guys seems like if its happening to most of you it sounds like a fault in the programming. The "idle" function as Marc explained. I would almost guess that this could be some type of error because like SPDNJ stated he was in the middle of running the geotrack program when it happened and lost all information after the machine shutdown. Almost like with a computer if you were working on a document and you were to lose battery back up power without saving, all is lost. I would sum it up as a programming error which if it is it should be able to be fixed through an online update. Hey Randy when you were testing these bad boys out did you ever encounter these issues? I think Minelab should definitely be notified so they can get a file out for everyone asap. Just my 2 little rotten . .'s HH and GL

Just to be clear as others have stated I was two hours into a hunt and swinging over a target (quarter) and it just ended the game da da daaaaaaa! and off!

First 30 hrs of use, my wifes did shut off while in use.She rebooted and has worked fine.Mine never did that,However! mine did lock up when trying to turn the unit one time.I hit the off button and the screen just froze. After about one minute, a message pooped up and said something like "the detector has a critical and will shut down now'' Maybe not those exact words but close. This was after the first 20hrs of use and it was around 3:00 am. After it turned itself off, I rebooted and she's working perfect.

Thanks
Ken

Ken I have another post about the detector freezing. I had no control and Had to remove the battery o reboot it.
Mine said something like this "unusual error has accured".

mine went super falsing had been over this ground many times thought not that much trash here it got worse and worse so i put the coil up in the air it went even crazier couldn't stand the noise so i turned it off before i got any messages on the screen turned it back on was ok after that.

software glitch somewhere ? what ever it is doesn't seem good and its happening to lots of us in one form or another maybe minelab have some updates to stabilize things?

I just want to be clear on this. You do not lose the geotrack completely. It is still in the machine when you get home. What happens is that you can not get to the geo track on the machine to continue with it or see where you have been. You can start another geotrack but you can not continue the one you were running or pull it up to see where you have been until you hook up to a computer.

Mine did this once as well. But it started up no problem. Hopefully, it is fixable with a software update.
