CTX 3030 Carry Bag

That is some of the "camouflage" applied during testing, in an effort to hide any manufacturer's logos and/or markings. Using a "new" detector out in public, without being noticed, :look: is much tougher than you can imagine. I had to walk away from several sites, after seeing other detectorists off in the distance. Just part of the process!

If you want to save money I go to thrift shopes you can pick up rolling suitcases like you see in airports multiple pockets wheels, and padded all for $5 Ive also used surfbags, and ski bags.

:)yes i thought that it was for when you were testing, must have been hard hidding, why i asked was am trying to work out a way of covering mine to avoid it getting it scratched etc.. would what you have on yours do that or is it just cosmetic?

thanks

I didn't use anything over the screen or the pads. And I put it through a lot of rough use. Part of my testing process was to challenge the hardware, not just the software. I hunted fields, timbers, parks, yards, beaches.....everywhere I could think of. And the only "wear" I found on the CTX 3030 was wear on the "camouflage paint" from rubbing against my tool belt, and a couple slight scratches on the screen. Those scratches on the screen were my fault as I got in a hurry to wipe off the sand while on the beach. Had I rinsed it off, I doubt it would have been scratched. By not using a screen protector during testing, I could see that the display screen had some inherit "polarization", which explains why some folks have difficulty when combining that with polarized sun glasses. I doubt it will take long for an aftermarket manufacturer to come up with a housing cover, just like they have for all the other detectors. HH Randy

great thanks Randy on the feedback i put some of that stuff on the screen, sounds like the rest of it is pretty tough :clapping: yeah i guess someone will make some covers for it just a bit of a strange shape to cover that's why i was inquiring about the black and what it was.
so all that's left to do it more practice :) got to be happy about that.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I'd guess some enterprising person will come up with a cover for the CTX 3030. In the meantime, I took one of the "environmental covers" from an X-TERRA, and it don't fit bad! A bit loose around the edges. But not so much it causes a problem. Nice thing is that the "window" is large enough to see the display and all the buttons. Again, this is an X-TERRA environmental cover that I've been using for several years. As such, there are some scratches across the front of the plastic. Actually, the scratches showed up a lot more with the display dark, compared to when I turned it on. Regardless, for those wanting something to keep their finger prints off the CTX 3030 display and pads, and maybe save it from some scratches, take a look at it this and see what you think. HH Randy

I asked Ralph @ Sunray about a cover, they are throwing the idea around. Maybe he will have one available shortly.
