Could be once in a lifetime hunt!:detecting::detecting:

Btw, I have some more pennies to show you......and something else....you will never guess. Check back later

That's an impressive find to say the least! Congratulations!

The beauty of metal detecting....it's like Christmas every time you get a good hit and start digging.

We headed out to the site again...it was a very overcast day with some chance of rain.

We started hunting again...about 20 mins into the hunt....Danny says hey look at this. Hes got a decent shape 1909 barber quarter. Wowwwww...the oldest coin so far on the site was 1911 so it was great that he got it.
We continued to hunt....got a few more wheats and steel pennies. I decided to head over to an area about 20 feet or so from where we found most of the silver. I got a deep tone that bounced a bit from high to mid range. I had to check this one out. Glad we had the big shovels, as there was about 10 1/4 to 3/8" roots to dig thru. Checked the hole and the signal was stronger. Pinpointer says target in the hole. I got my lesche and was digging outwards to avoid damaging anything in the hole. Lets see on this site, Ive been fooled about......100 times, because of the trash and old iron. I can almost see the rusted pop can in the hole.... About 9-10 inches down....I can see some silver.....I think....or is that aluminum? I yelled at Danny....I said, something good here but not sure what it is...come check it out . Come to find out.....it wasn't a aluminum can or EVEN a Silver dollar. IT WAS 20 Silver Dollars!!! Danny's in shock and I have a smile from here to the east coast. He took pics and I gently tried to open the container. It finally opened and sure enough 20 Silver Dollars spilled out in my hands. Dumbfounded, we really didn't look at the coins. Danny took a nice shot of the new coins and I put them back in the container and we theorized how they got there. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!! So, not only did I get 287 wheat back pennies(some steel) 1 Franklin half dollar, 10 Silver Dollars & a 10 oz .999 pure Silver Bar.....NOW....Ive got 20 MORE Silver Dollars complete with its own carrying case. 30 Silver Dollars total!

We went to a local detectorist meeting after the hunt. Danny was telling the story about me finding the 10 silver dollars on a previous hunt...and then he said, "here's the bad part'....and I took the container with 20 more Silver dollars out of my pocket. Absolute dead silence! I got lots of nice comments from the members and they are a nice group.

You just never know when this might happen to you!

As requested....Heres a pic of all the silver.

Thanks Larry & manda,

Yes, I coudnt sleep last night.....Talked to my friend today.....he couldnt not sleep either.

Funny! What can I say.....I was doing what I like to do.....and got very lucky. There are sooooooooooooooo many signals at this location that mostly of time....you dont know where a signal starts and a signal ends. Got to go back with more machines and multiple coils.

Thanks all!

Awesome finds James. Keep after it, once is a lifetime type place to hunt. I'd hunt the place to death. And if you need some help, this is the place where you can get some recruits. Just lets us know.

It sounds like the house had a stash of coins or they were buried and the moving equipment spread them out.
I would hunt that place a few more times and try to find a pattern as to where the coins came from and how they were spread out.
I would guess you found the tip of the iceberg and there is more there waiting.
The big tip off is the silver bar. No one would drop that from their pocket and not recover it.

Yep ... that will be the hunt of a lifetime.

Thanks! and.....you were right! Take a peek at this....

We ventured off to our semi local spot. Pretty cold today...not raining but close to it. Our coldest day to hunt...with lots of wind. We tried to make the best of it.
As per our last hunt not much to report. Coins are becoming very hard to find. A few coins but nothing to get really excited about. I had a few signals in the dollar range but no joy. We searched all over and was getting colder and evening was approaching. I headed over to Danny to see how hes doing and he thought I was done for the day....I pretty much was. I got a good dollar signal and had to dig it up... and did....and got a nice piece of ol rusted iron. I look at my battery strength and Im at 8.23 volts....not much time left....at 8 volts it dies and forgot my spare battery...So, I will give it till it quits. I headed over to another area that both of us worked for a little while. I got a bouncing signal with some good tone. Lots of iron signal too. I wanted to move on and remember about all the extra iron in the ground so I switched to analyze. Signal wave was smooth but not good....at least not what it should be. Then, I switched to pinpoint. Huge signal. Different than Ive got before with iron and was very strong on good conductors. I start to dig... I dont see anything. Then, I see a plastic bag....Ive gotten bags before with nothing in them. Pull it up and nothing was there. Then, I see some shiny wire. I look closer and it looks like hoops....3 of them. What the heck is it? Sure looks like some kind of silver...or am I just tired? I pull a bit more and it sure looks like one nice long chain. I called to Danny. I said look at this. He said...."looks great...maybe gold"? I continue to pull. More plastic sack and debris comes up and I know have now, 3 separate chains. Danny checks and its .925 silver. Nice! I continue to check the hole and theres signals everyplace. About 4 pieces of iron come up. Then a glimmer! Another chain! Still more signals in the hole. I see more silver! I pull out more and more and more...there is so many I cant count them all! I dont know if its the cold or nerves but Im shaking a bit. I continue to probe and get more iron screws, bolts and a 3 inch iron spring. Then, I see it....MORE Silver!....and Larger! I gingerly pull out more chains out of the water drenched soil. Danny and I are both laughing and trying to figure out.....WHY?
I get more iron bits and then see an outline of a ring. I then pull out a pretty heavy ring! NOW, Rings too! Wow what else
I checked the hole profusely...more iron but no other good targets that we can detect. Danny counted them....97 Sterling Silver chains & 1 Silver ring....go figure.

I still cant quite come to terms with this. Im exausted but my blood is pumping. I dont think I will be able to sleep....again.

We found out there was a store at this location at one time. Maybe they sold silver there ??? We will do some more research on what was there.

More pics to come when I can clean it all up. I dont have a scale but there are several pounds of silver.

Heres some cleaned up pics after rinsing, soap, ammonia and then boiling! Me and the silver!

Thanks for the nice comments!

Wow . . talk about dumb luck.

I would like to think there was a bit of skill in finding these but you are so right.....Upon arriving at this location for the first time, I several times almost walked away...not knowing what was lying not too far under the ground. It makes me think how many other things I could have missed.....???

Incredible,,,,Simply Incredible. Way to go guy's. :surprised:

Thank you!

We are heading there again tomorrow....hopefully it will be good again for us. Probably last trip this year as holidays, weather, travel etc will be upon us soon. I will post what happens.

Thanks to all and have a nice holiday season!

Hi again!

We went out...rain & wind....lots of both. We hunted for about 5 hours till dark. Coins are very scarce now....got some clad and a token. Finally, did manage to find a 53 half dollar and 3 silver globs(melted from a fire or jeweler). If there is another cache there...it avoided us this time. Maybe we will have better luck next time. Until then...

At least you are still finding some silver....
