A couple weeks back, I passed a tractor trailer truck and then got ahead a bit in the same lane. All of a sudden I heard a screeching, grinding noise and looked in my rearview mirror. The trucks tires blew out and it started fish tailing all over. The tail end kicked out and I saw a mangled car smash against the guardrails, the tractor trailer smashed into it again. I and another guy stopped about a 1000yrds down the road and called the cops and were going to go back to help out but a bunch of other motorists were jumping out and helping already. The guy who stopped with me stated the truck almost hit him too. I definitely try and keep my distance when near a big rig.
 
Maybe he was forced over by another Big rig that didn't see him, I speak from experince one time I was driving home from Seattle after metal detecting. Next thing I know my buddy is practically in my lap because a Big ole combo rig decided he needed to be in my lane. At one point I could see the back of the first trailer with the other half about 6 inches from the passenger side. Well I start veering to the left hand shoulder, braking firmly but not enough to go into a skid to give him a chance to get out ahead. Had there been another Semi parked in the shoulder you all might have been cracking funnies and making disparaging remarks about me. Odds are it was his fault but not necessarily!
 
as a former firefighter / EMT many times I was one of those cutting the remains out of the car.....
or scraping them off the road.
You get rather immune to the reality ....
and death, at least in this case was fast.
The ones I hated were when they are still alive and we transport to the ER where the ER staff gets to watch them slowly die and everyone knew they didn't have a chance.
I'll bet Bobbie has seen plenty of those.
OH well... shit happens...
everyone loves a good wreck...
except the victims family
