Confused! Which frequency?

I've been looking at peoples programs in some forums and noticed some coin ones use a single high frequency. Shouldn't it be a low single frequency for silver and a high for gold and jewelry. This is of course if your not using the three frequency best data?

Some users prefer the higher frequency to evade EMI and smoother operation at the expense of some depth loss. I would think that 22.5 single frequency would still be deeper than Best data.....

I find myself using the single frequency mode of the V3i more and more. It is a trade off. I think Best Data is a bit more accurate on the VDI numbers, but I get a bit more depth from single frequency mode. 7.5KHz is a good compromise for all around detecting. It is sensitive to both coins and small targets, and is better than 2.5KHz for high EMI conditions.

Usually, but not always, it depends on your ground, settings and hunting style. Give it a try and see if it works for you.

Wouldnt 2.5KHz be the best for deep silver?

Keep in mind that silver & copper coins are not as affected by different frequencies as small jewelry and gold is. In other words, in 22.5KHz a silver coin will sound out nearly as well as in 2.5KHz, but a thin gold chain may become "invisible" to the V3 in 2.5KHz.

i havent had a chance to dig dirt yet with my v [frozen] but with my dfx 2.5 non normalized would keep deep coins from wraping to iron range example a wheat shallow would hit 60 something but super deep [8in plus] woul hit +90 or so , if normalized or dual frequency it would hit as iron. bury some coins deep play with frequencys and see what happens . good luck and happy hunting!
