Confederate Buckle

Steelball

New member
Hello. I’m new to this forum. I recently came across a brass buckle that is looks like a confederate states buckle. It is marked S. Campbell & Co 71 Jermyn St London. It looks to have almost no use. I feel certain it is a repro but I haven’t been able to find another with the same design and marking. I hope someone can help with the identification. Thanks to all.

Was it found detecting or as an item that had been kept with personal belongings? Very nice either way.

Doesn't prove anything for sure but...

It is anice looking Buckle, but Warning: do your research. There is unfortunately a lot of fakes floating around. I hope for you two things: 1) that it is an authentic Confetrit' wreath 2 piece Buckle, and 2) if not, I hope you didn't get taken to the cleaners. One has to really be careful these days in buying artifacts. I sincerely hope that yours is a real deal. I'm not an authority on CW buckles, but I'll say that this Buckle is a bit unusual looking. Best of Luck to you.

Thank you very much. I guess I don’t really know just how to have it authenticated or determined to be a reproduction.

You can contact some reputable relic dealers such as Stones River Relics, or the Horse Soldier Relics in Gettysburg, (if they are still open), and they can set you on the right path, and they are both honest, and again reputable. Best of luck to you.
