Combined Mode Question

Still waiting on my ctx to arrive, but what do you mean by a few dots of disc? Sorry but I am new to the idea of discrimination other than the null that the excal does with iron.
The CTX screen is divided into pixels/squares "dots". It reads 1-35 vertically, top to bottom (ferrous numbers) and 1-50 horizontially, left to right...Sooo if I disc out 1X1, that would be the top left "dot". You wouldnt hear a signal with a 1 ferrous and 1 conductive signal.

Thanks. That makes sense. What area do pull tabs usually show up?

On my CTX, if the pulltab is intact (dog ear + ring thingy) it'll come in around 12/15-17. If the pull tab has separated, the dog ear or the ring come in 12/10-13, the latter being right in the nickel range. After you use the machine for awhile though, it becomes a little easier to tell the difference. The nickel will usually provide a square target trace, and the pulltab will usually provide a round target trace with a small amount of smear. Notice I said usually...:heh:
