Coins, Lead and a little Gold!

Goldak

I hunted yesterday at a partially drained lake and found plenty of targets. It was a fun and exciting hunt even though it was cold and windy all day.

You did great, nice ring too. Let us know what else you find there, got to be more gold. Nice scoop you have, I like the handle, need to get one welded on mine. HH

Thanks all! Some hunts are just more fun and memorable than others. Yesterday was one of them. HH!

Another great video Goldak! Hey not to henpecked but I think I may have noticed something in your video about your straight shaft. It seems like the green metal of the shaft goes down pretty close to the coil. You may want to extend your carbon fiber lower out as far as you can. You coil will detect your straight shaft as well as anything in the ground. Keeping it as far from the coil as possible will definitely result in less signal disruption/ confusion. Just my ten cents and if I am wrong I apologize in advance. Grats on that lovely ring!

Dig, thank you for noticing that and speaking up! You may have confirmed what I was already suspecting. During the hunt I noticed that I wasn't finding many deep nickels and the shallow ones didn't sound off very well . May have cost me a gold ring too! Since that hunt I began thinking about what you also observed. I will make some adjustments and see if it makes a difference this weekend when I go back there. I really appreciate your comments! HH!

....how beach hunters go out and buy these beautiful long handle scoops just to dig out the target in the wet sand or dry sand and then bend over to pick up the target.....Is it me?? you must be more than a little bit sore after digging all those targets and on top of that I would think that shaking the scoop out and retrieving the target while staying in the standing position would up your recovery rate and put more coins and jewelry in your pouch at the end of the day.....I know and hunt with alot of beach hunters here at the shore and I'm always perplexed when I see someone recover a target that way....Why have the long handle scoop?......Am I the crazy one here??....LOL...By the way Goldak verrry nice video !!

Surfdigger, No, I'm sure I'm the crazy one here. I guess hunting that way seems more effective to me for some reason. Perhaps it's because the wet sand doesn't go through the perforated scoop very easily and if I have gloves on it's easier if I don't have to fetch targets out of the scoop. I never really gave it much thought. HH!

Look at those tennis shoes those are all wrong for metal detecting........ Just kiddding, great hunt, great video and just keep finding the gold while everyone else critiques!!!
