Coiltek Coil for the CTX 3030 :clapping:

I am not sure I would buy this. Although I love having after-market products as an additional choice, I cant see what the advantage here is. I have had both the 6" and 17" coils and do not see an advantage with either. I get great depth and target separation with the stock coil. I hunt mainly in very trashy parks with layers and layers of targets and I get great separation with the stock coil. The ML 6" was a nice coil but I didn't see an advantage. I had the Coiltec coils with the Etrac and they were just as good as the stock coil IMO

Surprised they haven't mentioned any field test results in the advertisements

Good point, but I think it's better to wait for a report from a non affiliated poster anyhow. I've yet to see a negative review from a field test posted by a manufacturer (is that even a word?), but you get my point. For the $$$, it better do something the Minelab coils don't.

Well... Here are some thoughts about the coil before it comes out... Just my observation... The football shaped Double D coils have a better degree of separation than the round Double D coils... I found this makes pinpointing easier... Another thought.... Coiltek has been around for a while and this is there break into the CTX 3030 game... They have been the only coil company so far to get dibs on this so I'm sure they are trying to set the bar high for other possible coil makers that might get a chance to partner with Minelab and their chip technology. I don't think Minelab is going to open that door to just anyone who wants to make a CTX 3030 coils.

Has anyone ever used the Coiltek coils? If so... what was your experience with them?

My Joey didnt earn its own lower shaft... The other one without a shaft was a dublicate 4.5x7....

Thanks for the links and info JerseyJim & Bayoubug!

Wildherre, it sounds like your past experience with a different after market coil with the same dimensions and same manufacturer as the pending new release coil has been less than stellar!?

I'll only be interested in this 3rd party coil if it meets or exceeds the performance of Minelab's 6 inch coil. At least it will offer an option that can get into slightly tighter spaces than the 6 inch stock coil.

I've heard that the depth of any given coil is based on the coils width, if that's the case, then it sounds like the 5x10 will not be quite as deep as the 6 inch coil by Minelab.

Will be good when some independent field tests are released.

Coils have improved a lot over the past few years. There have only been 2 "hey I wasn't finding anything here anymore and now I am" moments for me.. One of them was the 6x8 sef and the other the Pro coil....The Coiltek 5x10s that I have owned for the Sovereign & FBS have been good solid performers when compared to the older design coils like the BBS 10 and slimline BBS & FBS but wonder if they have improved it to the standards we now enjoy with the current CTX coils. It will be the only horse in the race in that size range and now that they are waterproof many people will no doubt find them very useful..The BBS and FBS 5x10s were good with emi and easy to pin-point with but didn't have combination of punch, knife edge separation and good emi characteristics of the current crop of factory and other aftermarket coils... I hope it just kicks ass and we all have to pay the ridicous price they are going for...wildherre

Wildherre, thanks for the info, really appreciate your experienced input! When you say one of your 2 "aha!" moments was with the pro coil, I'm thinking of the Garrett AT Pro's coils, but am afraid I'm wrong. I had the ATP's 5x8 coil and loved it, which is why I'm so interested in wait in for this 5x10 coil. Not sure it will amount to any difference at all, and have heard about the great depth the little 6" coil gets, so at a cost of 60 plus dollars more, I have some real doubts about the 5x8 coil making a justifiable difference.

Do any of you think pinpointing is hard with the stock coil? Everyone who has been out with me knows that I can pinpoint a target almost to the half inch. I think the stock coil pinpoints awesome, so does the 17" coil as well. I cant wait to start seeing the reviews.

Well, its mid June. Any word on the new coil?

The release was pushed back to sometime in July it was supposed to be out on June 16th but something happened to cause a delay in manufacturing..

Out of curiosity has anyone got theirs yet?

Talked to the dealer I pre-ordered with about 10 days ago, he hadn't heard anything yet....

Its now late July - a month after the original planned release date - any news on availability? Is the date being shifted again?
