Coiltek Coil for the CTX 3030 :clapping:

Great News!!!! Coiltek officially stated they are releasing a new coil for the CTX 3030 that will be coming out in mid June. It will measure 5x10, and it will be authorized by Minelab. Yes... it will have the same chip in the coil that Minelab uses in their 3 stock coils. This coil will fit in between the standard 11 inch coil and the smaller 6 inch coil... I'm going to grab this one when it hits the market.... I'm hoping that this will be my everyday hunting coil.... Sounds like the perfect size to me.... I used the White's 6x9 coil on my DFX for an everyday coil and I loved it... Anyway.... I thought I would create a thread so that maybe some discussion can take place.... I'm very excited about this announcement!!!

I agree with you on your thought's on the new coil. I really do however like the stock coils, but for me the more tools I have in my tool box the better I can complete the job at hand.

The Coiltek 5x10 Joey size coil has always been a little weak with performance, more like a weak 8" on the FBS machines. They were quite a bit short on depth compared to the 6x8 SEF.. They did finally start making them waterproof..If they were announcing a 6x8 SEF, Id be excited but a Coiltek 5x10, not so much.... wildherre

My thoughts as well, although it's great to hear that an aftermarket coil is being produced.

Being that the CTX smart coils are quite different than other coils I'm confident this new Coiltek 5x10 will perform differently that the 5x10 Joey coil that people have been using for years. Let's not dismiss this new Coiltek CTX coil before even the first one is swung by a single average detectorist.

It's great to hear that aftermarket coils will become available, but for me to spend the possible $400 that someone mentioned, it would have to be amazing, out of this world.
Now if they figured out how to work an in line probe,I'll be first in line..

Where are you guys seeing this? I did a quick search and did not find a mention of this anywhere besides Findmall...

The Detect America Facebook page. They had an exclusive interview with Trevor last night on their internet weekly show where it was officially announced.

I should know Trevor? I guess we have to wait for an official announcement.

Interesting for sure!
Makes sense, especially considering Minelab's history with Coiltek...
It sure would be nice to have something between the stock 11 and the manhole cover 17!

Trevor Ferraresso is the technical director at Coiltek. He also worked at Minelab. He officially announced the 5x10 coil for the the CTX that would be coming out sometime in June. So.... I think it is official. You can listen to the recorded show from last night to hear for yourself. I'm not one for spreading rumors. ;)

Gotchya.

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck.......We will have to wait & see how it quacks...... wildherre

Can't wait!

if it really is $400. Its going to have to look awful appetizing for me to bite

It is going to have to something that the stock coil does not do. I have picked some targets from thick iron with the stock coil. The stock coil gets pretty good depth. This coil will have to prove itself. Some guys will buy it just to complete their CTX collection. Not me. I have wasted enough money in the past.

Hmmm, wondering if it's a DD or a Mono?
