Coil weight too much?

White's makes a hip mount kit. I used one for years with my old White's 6000 DI-Pro back in 1985. It allowed me to swing the coil more hours. Here is the part number to look up on their site.

Hipmount Kit (V3, DFX, XLT, QXT)
P/N 802-5260

I ordered one for my V3i today.

I found that the hipmount takes the weight off the back of the elbow and shifts it all to the coil. In my opinion it makes the coil seem much heavier.

I like hipmounts for beach detectors because in the water the coils don't weigh much, Just my opinion.

I do a lot of woodland hunting so I shorten the rod length for brush and tree swinging. I poke the coil under and around much of the time and with the extra weight of the control box on my arm it limits me to only three hours hunting. Hardly an excuse to carry extra batteries with me. Many times I use the 4X6 DD coil in the brush by picnic sites. To each their own. As with any accessory there is a time and place for it's use to be advantageous.
