Coil test comparison, FWIW

Thanks Longhair. Good to hear from someone who knows both detectors well. I've had the X-terra out a few times before I learned how to set it up properly. Actually, its not that complicated, still learning it. Been using the CoinStrike past 3 years. Did good with it, oh what fun. Dug up many 1700's British King Georges in NJ, most were less than about 8 inches deep, lots of musket balls, 3 of the really tiny U.S. silver 3 cent pieces, IH pennies, U.S. large pennies, 7 seated dimes, etc. Most dug in crop fields and in the woods. My air tests show the X-Terra to be deeper than the C$. But I went back with the X-Terra to several of the same places where I found those coins but seems like the C$ got them all, even the 1700's coins were not real deep. Guys in England detect coins that are about 1000 years old. I'll bet I passed up plenty of small silver because past 6 inches the C$ indicates it junk with lower tones and lower meter numbers, I mostly dig good solid hits only. The X-Terra might ID deep coins better.

When the targets are easy, and you take your time the first trip, you can pretty well clean up.

Did you see my 2hr Field Hunt thread?

I've been back once already, and I didn't find any more coins or buttons. I'm planning one more shot at it before it gets planted, but I won't be surprised if it doesn't pay off.

Yea, I saw it. Those are the kind of things I like to find. I would get that neat spoon silver plated and use it for soup. Good night.

Does the cellar have a cement floor in it? If so, the rebar in it may be causing problems with lower freq coil.
