CleanSweep "type" coils

I have a new Golden uMax that has done *quite* well on the dry sand (Better than my MXT :-/. I am thinking about a coild that'll do quick work of a large area in less time. A friend of mine a has a Bigfoot on his Silver uMax and seems to use it in even the wet sand without a problem. Are there any major differences/benefits between the Bigfoot and Cleansweep coils? Are there other coils out there in this "genre" that compete?

Maryland. A lady member (beauty at that!) won a club hunt category at the last meeting with a very fine thin woman's ring that she found on the beach. She was using a :tesoro: Cortez with a bigfoot coil. I'm no expert in the matter...except in women's beauty!:thumbup:
 
I used a CSC on my Tiger at Whites beach down in Manchester by the Sea. It did real well and no problems with dry to wet or waves going over it, and I was in regular mode. Now the regular 8" that was another story. I think thats because the CSC is a widescan. JMHO

Hi Barry, reference the CSC and tiger shark. I was wondering if they were manufactured by Tesoro to work together. What do you mean by "the 8" coil is a different story" ?Also, did the tiger seem as sensitive with the CSC and did you have problems ground balancing? Thanks!

Yes this CSC is one of the original CSC made for the Tiger SHark.
The 8" coil falsed all the time and was very hard to use. I had no problems ground balancing the CSC. I have found this to be a great coil. Seems to be as sensative as any other coil.
 
The Cleansweep Coil (CSC) is an 18" x 3.6" coil. It weighs 1.8 pounds. It is hot from tip to heel, so ground coverage is fast. The depth on the CSC is up to 7 inches on coins in ideal conditions.

I belong to a M/D club in castro valley,(S/F bay area)
and the tesoro dealer/distributor at the time, and from
our club, helped tesoro design the clean sweep coil.
when he got the proto type coil to test, I got to use it
for a weekend with another member of our club.
I liked it right off the bat!! We also found it a little hard
to get use to the heavy and out of balance weight.
Then someone (I can't remember who)said try turning it around
and use it backwards. We tried it and it worked great! it was
still a little heavy, but the way it works from head to toe it
dosn't effect the performance at all. I bought one when they
came out and use it on my Cortes and elderado . I use it almost
all the time, So try it, You'llLove it!!

Hi Rick,
I was thinking about getting one for my Tiger Shark for use on the beach.I figured it would cover a lot more ground. I was told by a club member that you lose a lot of depth. I don't think he had personally used one. What is your experienced opinion about the depth and sensitivilty on it?

I use mine almost all the time. the sensitivity I think is good. it finds very small objects and the depth is pretty good too. not real deep but in playground sand boxes I find dimes and
pennys at about 6 to 8"(guess) and quarters 8 to 9" maybe? I never really measured them that
closely.. I'm going out tonite so I will make a measured test for you and post it later tonite or tomorrow. But again I really do like the CSC., it does cover ground very fast and it pin pionts so fast and easy. Rick,ca.
 
OK here goes,

and by all means this is not at all scientific... ok i used my cortes and the csc coil
the settings were roughly sensitivity at 10..disc. min. at iron..ground bal. was at slight pos.
thres. low hum ...and this was at the park in the sand box...first i did a new quarter..got a pretty good signal at7' 71/2"..new dime at 4 7/8" 5"...nickel at5 1/2" new penny. at 4 3/4"
and an old penny also at 4 3/4". I didn't think to try using old all silver dimes and quarters
maybe next time... and I also fond a silver butterfly ring while I was there..hehehehee...

If you're lucky you might be able to find one for the Tiger in the classifieds. I got really lucky about a month ago and found a dealer who had a new Tiger Shark CSC. I love it.

site. It looked like a good price and also it is a newer lighter model. Also bought a 48" sand scoop and got a good price on the standard LEsche digging tool!!!! Now, all I need is time to hunt:nopity:
 
I have been using mine on the Golden uMax for shallow depth beach hunting. It has performed well, but I agree, not all that deep. I can't say that this is the case on dryer land. I also have a tendency to crank my sensitivity too high, which I'm sure limits my depth...
 
The Clean Sweep is a Double D Coil. The Bigfoot is actually made by Applied Creativity for White's Electronics Metal Detectors and uses a unique Differential Loop Technology, and Pin Points in the Center with a NULL.

There is a field test on the Jimmysierra.com web site.

I believe you will fing the CSC for the Umax will not plug into your Tiger Shark. There was a CSC specifically designed for the Tiger Shark but they are very hard to find at this time.

They also made them for the Sand Shark and those can still be found.

 
work with my Tiger. Tesoro does make an adapter (not water proof) that will let me use the CSC on my Tiger. The only problem is that the current CSC is not engineered for the Tiger and there for it may lose some performance (depth, descrimnate etc...). I spoke with a dealer on this sight. He said that I would be better off (since Tesoro doesn't make the CSC for the Tiger anymore) getting a 10" coil. He said it is matched to the Tiger and I will definitely not lose any depth.
