cleaned out park yealds 2 masked quarters

Hunted a park today , and found no cladd, just zincs, and pull tabs, but i dig Iron and was using my new super magnet, and I dug out a crecent shapped Iron object and scanned again ,Got a nice clear high tone, Up comes a crusty quarter they Missed it , and again i was digging out some bolts by the side of an Ice arena and after digging some nuts out i got a nice high tone , up comes another crusty quarter, and i got a fake ring, hopes up then rug pull Down, My new magnet uses 2" long x3/4" side neodemium N 42 housed in a copper pipe, and it really grabs the iron when i find it , bottle caps nails It really cuts down on the time looking for the iron

Its got a lot of pull power,alot of the items eather pull out of the grass or dirt just from the pulling power or i can feel it tugging on the iron and can tell right where it is and just pry it out

Its got a lot of pull power,alot of the items eather pull out of the grass or dirt just from the pulling power or i can feel it tugging on the iron and can tell right where it is and just pry it out

Gunnar, could you explain what you used (and size of the parts, ex. 3/4” copper pipe) to make your nifty magnetic tool?

Yeah I looked up the neodymium n42 magnets, they dont exactly just give them away. They are kinda pricey. The 3/4"x 1/4" n42 puck magnets I looked up are about $22 for 8 of them. Thanks again kaolinwasher for sharing your wonderful tool.

Ya the copper pipe is 3/4" ID type L with an end cap witch i soldered on , I have 2 inches of magnets in the pipe and 2 inches of 3/4 inch dowl rod into it and screwed on with two screws, I wrapped the dowl with some duct tape to get a good fit . the Magnets are N42 3/4 inch wide and 1/4 inch thick and stacked 8 of them , it works good I was out in a soccer field and i could pull alot of the iron right out of the grass. I have one site, an old farm house that the old yard layer is 18 inches thick and loaded with nails and iron so i just dig a front 3 ft wide and 18" deep and as i go i take out the iron with the magnet and then sweep with the detector coil , and you would not beleive how much is masked, just waiting for the ticks to go away and I may hit that spot again

I got the magnets from (Total Element.com ) this is the best deal I have found the N52 are the strongest out on the marked , I sugjest houseing them in somthing with a layer of protection like I did they will not take much abuse, and are brittle but just the two as shown will be very powerfull even more than the N42 I got

Very nice design.
I made a magnet rake by putting rectangular 1 1/2× 3/4 ×1/2 inch thick n42's across the tines of an old heavy rake.
Originally I made it to pickup nails from a roofing job at my home. Then I found by dragging it thru the area's I planned to detect. It really cleaned up.
