I just got the CTX 3030 Wednesday and only got to use it for a couple hours in my yard right after I got it Wednesday and then a few hours earlier tonight in my yard. I was mainly detecting in the yard because of I need a test area and it's perfect for that. Also, although I just upgraded from an AT Pro, I think I'm learning this machine pretty well already. I love how smooth it is and the customizable tones, GPS, etc,..... but there are other little technicalities I need to become more advanced in. Things like maximizing depth is the main one. I noticed using settings that came with the "50 Tone Conductive Ferrous Coin Separation" MLF file in the resource center that my depth increased from around 5" to 5"-7"using Manual 30/Auto +3. The previous settings I had used were the "U.S. Coins at Old Sites" MLF file and the default "Coins" program at Manual 21-30/Auto +3. I also tried to adjust my swing speed from fast/medium fast/slow/very slow. The results varied at each swing speed. It seemed like the slower I swung the more I could focus in on one target and also go deeper. Other than that, I'm still so excited that I actually have it now. What's even more exciting is that I figure that my results will get better and better the more I use it.

I'm open for suggestions and I hope you guys can be of help in getting me started right. :)

It's pretty exciting seeing folks getting going with this machine. two weeks from today I will be placing my order for my new CTX...after they get done removing my arm and leg. I'm looking forward to it and doing all the reading I can about it in the meantime.

Congrats on the new toy and keep posting your finds and experiences with it.

That is true dedication if you are serious. I hope things go well. I still can't wait until I actually get a good chance to get out on a good hunt that last more than an hour or so.

LOL Oh come on, it wont be that bad. Once you get the hang of this great machine you wont even care about the price tag..HH
