Cant get the wireless headphones to work???

Never had any problem with the WM10 once it was connected (paired). After that first connection, it is just turn on the CTX and the WM10 and go. I prefer the wireless simply for the fact that you are not tethered to the machine. I've had the CTX since the release the end of May 2012, and feel the wireless is a great option, never used the factory headphones though. I use the old SunRay ProGold headphones. They work fine with the WM10 and have a 4 pigtail if ever needed to hook the headphones to the CTX directly, but don't plan on doing that unless the WM10 fails.........JMHO

I was told by my vendor that once the WM10 was paired with the CTX, all that is needed in the future is to turn on the CTX, then the WM10 and it would connect. This is not the case with mine. I turn on the CTX, then the WM10 and then I have to hold the pairing button until it turns orange and wait about 30 seconds for it to pair up. My first connection used channel 6......maybe I should try a different channel?

Other than this little issue, I love the fact that I am not tethered to the machine. My only other beef is with the Sun Ray headphones themselves....I don't like the full coverage ear cups, not enough ventilation. Yes, they block out external noises (in some cases good, others bad), but, I find them hot and they make my ears wet with sweat. The extra warmth may be good in the winter months! I'm going to try my little Maxell over-the-ear and behind-the-neck ear phones with the soft foam ear pads. They work great with my F75.....I can still hear weak signals and, yet, I can still hear conversation and what is going on around me. <pause> I just tried the little cheapo headphones with the WM10 and they work great! I have to use a 3.5 mm to 1/4" stereo adapter plug, but, that's not a biggie. And, what's really cool, I just turned on the WM10 and it paired up without having to push and hold the pairing button!!

There was actually a problem with my first WM10, aside from the previous issue, it would not charge properly. I called Minelab and, after an inordinate amount of time on hold, they agreed there was a problem and immediately sent a replacement unit and it works like a champ. Hat's off to John at Minelab.......excellent service!!

It may also be due to the order of sequence you are using. Try commanding the CTX to connect to wireless then hit the wireless to connect. Works for me every time I need to reset. I also use 13 for my connection as I have hunted with others using the CTX and have run into problems when they are in the same channel.

I am running into one problem into the next. My WM is not working. I am getting tired, it is one thing after the next. I got windowa 7 I still can't download programs to my exchange. I don't know. I am getting to the point of using half the machine and the hell with the other half,

So, I read the postings and since June 5, 2012, the ND fellow has not posted! did he get it squared away or not? Just s side note. I am 71, and hunt 2-3 times a week for 4-8 hours each hunt. I have had the CTX since June of 13 and have had exactly 2 issues. First was the original machine had sound out of the speaker at a set level, very low. No matter what took place it would not change and I got no sound from headsets or the wireless. So, the dealer swapped his for mine and I went on my way. Second problem was the '6' coil went 'bad'. Would not connect to any machine, mine, the dealers, or my hunting buddies CTX. Dealer again gave me his and sent the other back. I have ZERO issue with Minelab warranty or performance of the warranty!

As for the wireless, if I follow the correct steps, as so often given by Digger, it ALWAYS works! Follow the steps exctly, dont take your won "I know better" steps!

On a side note: This is not aimed at anyone in particular as I read a dozen or so metal detecting froums each night. So, I strongly believe that if a person is so dissatisfied with their machine, a CTX or whatever, that they complain about everything, no matter what the issue, then they should probably sell it or just toss it away. It will make that person a lot happier! Their life will be better, less stress, less anxiety, less 'issues'! I try to read almost every post to see what is going on in other parts of the country, and I get no pleasure/enjoyment/wisdom in reading posts that complain and complain and complain! GET A LIFE!!!

That was almost 2 years ago and it was posted I had a bad wire in the coil is why it chattered so much and was sent a new CTX from Minelab and got the wireless to work with no problem at all and don't remember what i was doing wrong as the new one it was no problem setting it up to work.
These CTX detectors are as good as they get for those that want to learn them and understand them, but not for those that want to find deep silver and don't want to spend the time to get to know them and expect great finds every time out you will be not be happy, but that can be the case with any of the new detectors.
When I got my first Teknetic Mark 1 I didn't like it until I used it a bit and understood it well, then I fell in love with it and what it could do. I finally bought a Sovereign XS and it to I thought I made a very big mistake, but Once I used it and got to understand it better I was picking up coins from all my well worked areas with most of them deep and some close to trash I never could get before, these area were impressing me more and more while others didn't believe me until I had to prove it. I always plan on having my Sovereigns around, but the CTX is getting used more and more as it has been impressing me more and more.

Hi Rick,
I had a similar problem. My red light on my charger stayed on. I had a bad plug, the plug that goes into the wall outlet. I took it back to my dealer, he checked it out. It wasn't charging. Minelab sent me a new plug. If you purchased it from a dealer, let him look at it.

I have not had any problems pairing my wireless headphones. No problems what so ever with the machine apart from the sticking shaft problem which everyone with a ctx gets .

What are your symptoms with this "sticking shaft?" Are you unable to adjust the length without it binding, or what? I have never had a problem in that respect with mine. Maybe you have had yours longer and it is something that manifests itself from repeated use........I rarely collapse mine, except to change coils. Does yours stick when adjusting the length? If so, do you thing something like a silicon spray might help?

i have had one instance (thinking about it) a few months back where i could not get a pair from Machine to WM 10. The CTX should and mostly will pair up first time with the module no problem... I had to manually change channell to 13 to get a pair. , the wireless is reliable for the most part. Doing a reset sometimes solves the problem too.

Yea it sometimes binds when trying to extend it or collapse it. Most CTX 'S will do this at some point , mine started doing it after 3 weeks. Solution is keep shaft imaculate , no dirt not even a bit keep it clean , very clean. Use silicon spay to help it slide. Do not use WD 40 even though it cures the problem, i have heard it can attract dirt. I hate breaking detectors down on each hunt as basically you are introducing possible shaft wear problems. I travel to some hunts on the train so i have to close down the shafts regularly.
