I agree with you totally. There are professionals in almost every field. You took it to a professional. He said he could do it without any damage so that's what you should have gotten. Why should you have thought any different? I cant see why he couldn't have taken a little bit more time and surgically removed the coin. It doesn't matter if it was a zink penny. If he took on the job then he should stand behind his work. I used to be an auto mechanic and could remove a bearing race off of the shafts they were on with a cutting torch with no damage. Why couldn't a jeweler take the ring off that coin?
