CALLING ALL EXCAL OWNERS!!!:starwars:

When I know that I reflect the feelings of most Minelab users out there.....cmon....admit that you are wrong and I am right....cmon dude you can do it....cmon.... come to the dark side young Luke :starwars: or is it Don qiote?? go get em advocate for the little guy!! oh the hot weather outside is keeping me on this computer too long.....I gotta get into the water with my "flawed" Excalibur..... :punch:

I don't like inserting my thoughts into a Minelab discussion,Its like poking a hornets nest lol...
Here are my two cents... A detector is only as good as the person behind it... If one brand was top dog then why should there be any other water machines out there that are still selling?

I don't own a Minelab although if I did it would be a ExplorerII... I think its a better built detector.

:)

If he wants to write Minlab about the problems, why act like such a jaded individual ("I've been on this forum for so long, that....") and start getting insulting? I know it's a public forum, but things seem to have been pretty civil around here. I tend to agree that Minelab won't pay the complaints any heed, (I own 2 Explorers, that have suffered various defects), and I'm not sure that I have the time to contact Minelab about my ideas (I did once re the software), but I sure won't try to disparage anyone else from taking up the cause. The Explorer is a great detector, but there's certainly a LOT that can be improved, starting with the software and the build quality and I'm certainly not going to try and convince anyone that Minelab got it right the first time or that they shouldn't try to do anything about it.

"Ericski" he said " Never wrestle with a pig." "If you wrestle with a pig you will get sh@t on you and the more you wrestle with the pig the more sh@t you will get on you." "The worst part my boy, is that the more sh@t you two get covered in, the more the pig likes it."
:rofl::lol::rofl::lol:
I can still see Gramp in my mind's eye when I recall that advice, still chokes me up a little as he's been gone now for 27 years. He was a builder too and I am the second generation of to follow in his footsteps, big shoes to fill too as he was a very kind and honest man.

The fact of the matter is that Minelab is making the changes necessary to improve their product from what I can see. My experience with the company is very limited (been a consumer of their products since Jan. '06). Changes for the better can be seen with Huntress's new Excal 800. It has real cool Koss headphones, instead of the clanky blue ones that most of us have. Wish I had them, but I'm very pleased to see these type of improvements for future production. I expect there will be other improvements, but the corporation does not know where the issues are unless we speak up. Obviously, when they see the things that break when we send them in for repairs as well. I appreciate your suggestion to proceed with this and stand with you in your valued leadership in this matter. GH

Like Gulf Hunter stated, he FEELS MINELAB IS MAKING IMPROVEMENTS! I TOTALLY AGREE, because just a COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, I POSTED INFO ON
MINELAB'S NEW UNIVERSAL RECHARGABLE Ni-Cad POD, that fits ALL THE EXCALS', Older Models and Newer Models! I had talked EXTENSIVELY TO Dick Shultz and EXCAL Tech Robert about the NEED FOR A NEW UNIVERSAL Battery Pod. I'm not trying to take CREDIT for that product, but I personally feel THAT MINELAB IS TRYING TO PLEASE IT CUSTOMERS!!

CZ20 is a good detector,The excalibur is a good detector
But try Garrets Infinium LS it go's deep, deep, deep

....I just was feeling a little reckless at that moment and was trying to have a little fun....but I do tend to forget how sensitive some folks on here are and how alot of them get their feelings hurt.....sooooo I will be more considerate next time.....I guess I was just trying to point out how pointless it was at this late date in time to get the Minelab "leopard" to change his spots. they have found a profitable (not neccesarily ethical) way to do business and that is what thay are....and I was just asserting my opinion of how futile it is to start a consumer uprising now....We have all kinda been there and done that....ya know? anyway....I will just keep enjoying my Minelab machines and stay out of the revolt...and spend my energies in more constructive endevours....and that is finding gold......Sorry for twisting some of you folks out of shape....HH....Brian

As for hurting my feelings, don't sweat it. I've been running construction jobs for the past 27 years so while you may manage to annoy me it would take a low yield nuke to actually hurt my feelings.
Some of us will always see the glass half full and others will see it half empty, neither of us is really wrong and I doubt that either of us will ever convert the other to their point of view.

I just know you would have liked him GR. He was never one to settle for anything but the best. He told me as an apprentice carpenter "Ericski, if you're not going to do it right, just put your tools away and go home!"; strong word from a man you deeply respect.
There were only two ways to do a job, the right way and the wrong way, only one was acceptable and it better be damn near perfect.
A good man who made an important impression on his kids and his grandkids, we all really looked up to him and he would move heaven and earth to make any of us happy.

Cheers,

Owning an excaliber is like having a wife that really knows how to make your life a fantastic journey. But when she breaks down you put up with it because you know what a great wife she is and their is no other woman out there that can compare with her even when she has her flaws and sometimes has to be fixed. It is just that you have to put up with the good and bad in the minelab products. I own 2 excalibers and an explorer. I can't tell you how many times I have sent my machines in for repair or new coils. But I can't find another machine out there that has the technology that minelab has and until then I will have to keep getting her fixed when she is broken. There technology is unsurpassed but the package has many flaws. Minelab knows what the flaws are and are in the position to not change that because they know that there isn't another detector out there like theirs and until one does come out they aren't going to do anything about it. They have a good customer service group and I know that they read the forums and if things haven't changed in their products now they won't in the near future. They did make one change that I can remember. They added a much sturdier coil wire from the headphones to the machine. That was an inprovement. I have the older minelabs and I think they were made better than the newer ones. As a matter of fact I wouldn't buy a newer minelab they aren't anything like the older ones. Just my opinion HH

I was always told by my grandpa that there is no such thing as "good enough", it is either good or it is bad and only good is acceptable.

Complacency is a disease that is the root of many major problems.
