I have the Silver uMax and cherry pick with it all the time. My usual settings are disc just past pulltab and sens. in the red. EMI has never been an issue where I hunt. I pulled my best coins in the trash with this detector. Deepest at those settings has been 7" in my mild soil. Have found both quarters and indian heads at this depth with weaker audio but repeatable in all directions. I was on my fourth battery by the end of the season, so I put quite a bit of time on this detector. I rely on it and it has continually impressed me. I bought used with shipping off ebay for $165. It had been taken out of the box and that was about it. It was practically brand new and still had the factory battery in it, which I used for three weeks. I will buy another detector, but the Silver will never leave. This spring I am getting my 8 year old a Compadre so I will be able to test these two to see how they stack up. Either one you won't go wrong. Both is better yet!
