THE LAST TIME I SHOT A RIFLE WAS IN WEBALOES CAMP IN 1978.i would love to try a springfield rifle..my dad said his carbine was his best friend in berlin back in 57-60.

Way to go Vernon too! It is great you are going out hunting together and keeping traditions alive. Too few people these days know where their food comes from and how to harvest it themselves. I figure we have more appreciation for life and our environment if we become involved in it.
 
Our deer population has really went down since they started the new reporting system a few years back. A lot of hunters won't call in there kill and save there tag hoping for a bigger buck or just an extended hunt. Of course this is just what the big insurance companys wanted. Good luck with the hunt and be careful, as you know there are a lot of idiots in the woods this time of year who will shoot at anything they HEAR.
