Bullet ID

Well-known member
Found in a pasture where many CW relics have been found. It's a .44 cal. and weighs 236 grains or .54 oz. It has two rings with 4 slash marks on the base. Very white patina. Any info will be appreciated.

Can you post a better photo showing the rings or grooves around the bullet?
I do not see any bullets in my book of that caliber that weigh what you stated the weight of yours is.

Here you go.

I looked through my book even at all calibers, but did not see anything like what you have.
Not sure if it is post Civil War or not as this book only covers Civil War era bullets.
I found one (see photo) similar to yours in appearance except for the grooves, but I think mine is post Civil War.
It has the 4 slash marks at the base also like yours and I believe these are "Swage" marks.
My bullet is 15/16" in diameter.
Sorry I could not be of more help.
Have you found any other bullets at this site?
