Bucket lister with some chaos

Had to do a Walmart pickup for the wife, so I figured I’d go a half hour early and hit a colonial site I’ve been pounding… 20 minutes in I got my first silver from there,and my first Spanish coin.. packed it up,went to Walmart and did my pickup..was admiring my coin in the parking lot waiting for them to bring my stuff out.. Get home,put the groceries away and reach in my pocket,gone.. no coin just the flat button.. Race back up to Walmart and there it was ,right where I parked, just laying there… Man was I glad no kid found it.. Thanks for looking….. I’m not sure what denomination this coin is so any help is appreciated

Beautiful coin. Glad you found it, and someone else did not. I keep an empty pill bottle handy with my detecting gear for those top pocket finds.

I was using an old Minelab FBS machine. The coin is about the same size as a mercury dime, a hair smaller but not much difference in size at all..I’m not sure how you tell one Spanish reale from another,,is it size?

Good thing another detectorist didnt park there!!!! Wow on the return find!!!!!
I have a pill bottle as well and bury it in the pouch where not easily seen. Last year some frat rat gave us permission to sweep the frat and came out to check on us. Jkline showed him a silver ring and he grabbed it and said I know who owns that. Now I keep a small leather coin pouch with a zipper pocket on the backside. I put a couple junk rings in the pocket and if anyone wants to look then thats what they get. If they take it then zero loss to me and his girlfriend will probably dump the cheapskate!!!

I carry a pill bottle, too, but have it about 2/3rds filled with distilled water. The silver/gold items I put in it kind of swish around with movement and loosens some of the dirt by the time I get home to clean them up. HH jim tn

Man you should have bought a lottery ticket afterwards. Digging a Spanish, dropping it at Walmart and re-finding it sounds to me like you're on a hot streak!

Very nice find....double find! They must go by size. I found a 1 Reale years ago it was a 1776 and about the size of a quarter. One side was pretty well wiped out but the date was there. Nowhere near the detail of yours. I still have it in my collection.
