Bought new Thunder coil for E-trac!!

[metalpopper]
Quoting Nalc's original----

I did some quick air tests. Quarter was about 9 inches for solid sound. DIme 7 inches and nickel 5 inches.

Revision of my reply.

Hi ther Nalc472 !
I made some estimated depth calculations and posted same, based on your quote of the Thunder's dimensions.
I’ve just been looking at the manufacturer's 'blurb' on the same coil, for the Etrac.
It would appear that you were a little too generous on the dimensions ( 15" x 11") Correct data is 14.5" by 10.5"
so my estimations would therefore also be a little too high.

Look forward to any re-checks you may do....matt

Hi Nalc......Can you tell us what your sens. was during air tests?

Also, were you using an 'open' pattern?

From the coil's dimensions given, (11" x 15"), I think you should get better 'in-air' ranges for the quarter and Nickel...?????

(You didn't give details of your sensitivity for the test.)

.

At a manual sens. of say... 20;

I would anticipate about 10" to 10.5" max, for the Quarter...(23.7 mm. diam.) .....Amended...About..9.5 to 10 inches.t

For the Nickel...about 9.25".....( 21 mm. diam.)[/b......Amended to....about 8.5" to 9 inches.

For the Dime...about 7.5" max...(17 mm. diam.)......(I agree on that one ).......7" to 7.5 inches

Can you please re-check, to let me know if my estimations are incorrect?......matt[/quote]
