Bought new Thunder coil for E-trac!!

Waiting for a chance to use it. Might be spring. Will advise after I get a chance to use it.

What made you choose this particular coil?
From other peoples experiences?

I have the Tornado, Sharpshooter on Etrac. Have Big, tornado for F75LTD2. The tornado is a awesome Coil. My tornado for E-trac was loaned out for 6 weeks. Went back to a site that I was using all my other coils. Tornado got a solid 11-48 signal. Dug down 4 inches and found a 10gram silver ring. If U do not own a NEL coil get one. SInce I have had so much luck with the Tornado I thought the Thunder has to be great. I found a 14k Gold ring 10g the first time out with the tornado on my etrac last year. Paid for first trip.

If anybody wants me to post a pic of the coil let me know. it is in an unopened box in my entry way.

Sure lets see it

Here is the new Thunder coil for FBS Minelab. It actual weight is around 24ozs. Still very light. Look forward to giving it a try when the weather breaks.

Here are the Thunder and Tornado Coil Side by side. the first one is the Tornado and the second is the Thunder. They both weight the same amount at 1 lb 7.9 ozs.

Total weight of machine, coil and sunray probe is 5lbs .8 oz. Not too bad. I shaved quite a bit using my 18650 3 battery pack. Second pic is weight of stock 11 coil. It weights 1.34 lbs.

I like that coil. Be sure to let us know how it does when you get the chance to use it.

here are 3 pics. First is the weigh of my detector, sunray probe, 18650 battery installed, and Thunder coil. Second and third are pics of the coil on the e-trac. The reduced weight of my battery offsets the increased 5 oz of the stock vs Thunder. I believe my Battery is 8 ozs lighter than the stock battery

What I like about this coil is its shape. It is 11 wide and 15 height. This allows U to cover more ground than the sock coil but have the same 11 wide shape. I think it will be a winner especially if U can pull off 2-3 inches more depth than stock coil (my guess and hope in depth .)

I did some quick air tests. Quarter was about 9 inches for solid sound. DIme 7 inches and nickel 5 inches. I noticed the coil starts picking up target at top of coil not in front of the coil but ring under the top part of the coil. I believe the Tornado picks up target above top of coil. I think this will be easier to find targets how the Thunder coil does not hear it until you are on top of the coil. It is a solid line from top to bottom. Right and left of center does not react to the targets until it get close to the center. I think this is impressive to me. Just some thoughts.

Hi Nalc......Can you tell us what your sens. was during air tests?

Also, were you using an 'open' pattern?

From the coil's dimensions given, (11" x 15"), I think you should get better 'in-air' ranges for the quarter and Nickel...?????

(You didn't give details of your sensitivity for the test.)

.

At a manual sens. of say... 20;

I would anticipate about 10" to 10.5" max, for the Quarter...(23.7 mm. diam.)

For the Nickel...about 9.25".....( 21 mm. diam.)

For the Dime...about 7.5" max...(17 mm. diam.)......(I agree on that one )

Can you please re-check, to let me know if my estimations are incorrect?......matt

I can get 9 to 10 inches ,solid and repeatable with my pro coil,I like nel coils a lot but if Air test are truly the performance of a coil then I wouldn't switch my pro coil for a thunder.

On which coin, Tom...?????????????????

matt.

Auto plus 3 stetting was running around 19. stock coin screen. will test again when I get a chance.

Still not went out with the Thunder coil. hope to go out Tuesday if weather permits

Went back to some sites I have pounded. The Thunder on the E-trac hits targets hard. I found 2 clad quarters, 4 clad dimes, 8 pennys, 1 wheat. Impressed how it hits targets strong and great id numbers. Hope to go out again if I get a chance.

Found this 1864 indian with my new Thunder coil. I am "thunder struck"

Just tried it,manual 27, fast and deep off,10 inches repeatable with a quarter. And that's not whipping it eithor

A new Chapter of the NEL coils has started with the Thunder coil. You can actually use this coil in yards of medium size. It pounds out coins.
