Biggest dang gold ring I ever found..19.2g

Stoped by my friend Ryan's jewelry store at lunchtime so he could look at the ring,he gave it a full cleaning, and gave me some info....Its not an old setting because the blue sapphires are an" illusion cut",and that type of cut has only been around for 15 years at the most, its a type of cut that fits the stones together in a way that gives it pressured fit and a single stone,.flat clean look in certain lights...its a custom made ring ,18k, forget what he said the term for the pit marks is, but basically its air bubbles from the casting...didn't know what the omega 6.17 was other than an makers mark, and is positive its not foreign.suggested i look up the omega as a trademark for more info.In his shop it would have a 1200.00 asking price...Thanks for looking HH bob.oz

Yea i thought so too,but that's pre owned, another jewelers work, and his critical observations ... he does run a high end shop....the pitting in the casting was avoidable and It does have some scratch marks that didn't buff out...Sapphires can be expensive, when you need them...small diamonds...But,It would cost twice that much to have it made these days.... Don't care,Its all new to me!!!! Good Luck HH bob.oz

It's nice to have a friend with a jewerly store. Around my parts, every jewerly store wants to make a buck and charges you an appraisal fee to do what your friend did for free (assuming he did not charge you). Very nice ring, I'm sure you'll enjoy it in the years to come.

Spent several years building luxury yachts with him in the 70's (Gulfstars,Irwin's,Morgans)he was the best detail/trim carpenter i new, found his niche in jewelry design and went from Flea Markets to his own shop in 35 years..bought my first/only gold chain from him, does all my repairs (not always free, but cleaning the ring was!) and is remaking a piece with scrap gold and silver i supplied him with...Thanks, Good Luck bob.oz

WTG!

That's a fantastic find Bob. Here in California I found a 10k 3.5g ring yesterday morning and was happy until I saw your post. Your ring makes mine look like junk. You are right not to sell that one. It's a memory because the chances of you ever finding another one like that during your lifetime are probably 0, not to mention the fact that it fits you. If it isn't a real tight fit, let me know every time you go to the beach so I can be detecting behind you in case it comes off.

That's funny!..thanks..they all add up in weight....5 years ago found a 14k 9.7 was my largest till now..also first 18k..It is a snug fit,my knuckles swollen from taking it off and on for the past week to show friends...don't wear any jewelry in the water...but I'm glad others do!!! Good Luck HH

Did you ever find any history on this piece? I recently bought my wife a necklace with Omega 6.17 stamped on it. Any help would be appreciated.

No...I never found out anymore info other than what the jeweler told me. And I actually forgot all about the markings till you brought up this post. Still have and wear it often, just not while MDing.
