bigger coil for Garrett AT Gold, nel coil?

What happened? You mean we can talk about nel coils now? Is it because it is a deeptech product?Every time i have mentioned the word nel,my post got yanked. :-[

This thread has turned into an after market coil for all makes and models. And if it turn's out that no Findmall dealer is carrying these after market coils (with links to NEC or others), the whole thread will probably be deleted. Foreign companies producing products can probably do what all the sponsors at Findmall and international manufacturers do, and that is make arrangements to pay for their own "promoting of their products". That's only being fair. That's the reality.....

how come this thread was moved? Not sure i get what you are saying, John. These coils are out there being sold. And this being a forum and all. I think we have the right to discuss it.?? If not, that is very un-American. Freedom of speech in text form, right? I am not understanding this at all...I think some more insight is needed, John.

Thanks,
Les

Wow. what a bummer. Guess at pro and gold fans wont get to discuss there coil comparisons and brag on their garrett machines. I was really excited that people were going to get informed about the new and exciting ways to use there at's. Also it might even sell more garrett products to boot. No wonder why theres not any info about this stuff to be found. Ill still post you tube videos and answer any questions anyone has about it once i get my coil. Unless They block my emails as well.

Hi, First off, of course a bigger properly designed coil should get more depth on bigger items like U.S. quarters and larger items but the bigger coil will not be that responsive on smaller items....Personally I would be ashamed of myself supporting a none U.S. made product that is committing a form of Piracy....Keep in mind that Garrett uses Proprietary coil connectors, this technology or product is owned exclusively by Garrett and is not licensed to anyone else.....WOW and everyone wonders why the U.S. is in such sad shape!!!!.....I run and support Garrett products, a quality company that still survives in the good Ole U.S.A. .....I just had to state my opinion and feelings....JJ

We are in FACT having a thread turning, and that's not my intention. I love America! I would bleed and die for America! But to think foreign ideas can not improve American products is really nieve. NOTE: I am not trying to be blunt. I did some research, metal detecting itself was invented by the Germans. The American car, one of the best inventions ever, perfected and enhanced by many foreign ideas. Also vice-versa, The Americans have attributed many things to foreign products and ways of living. Use the Space Race for a reference if you want. The russians put a monkey in space...America put an human in space...Hopefully Garrett can outdo this Nel Coil and if they do i will buy it. The truth is i want to have the best metal detector for my price range, and i bought one, The Garrett AT GOLD. I will be very happy. But i'm not going to wait around for a few years hoping they put out a larger coil, when there already is great products out there. I understand fully i may be loosing ground seperation, not my intended use for it. i just want to have options. I want deeper. Garrett does make deeper using their two-box metal detecting conversion on the gti 2500. It looks awesome, but is it feasible for me to buy a whole new metal detector to have that ability? NO, at least not for me. 3 things i love: My daughter, America, and my freedom.
And for me not to be able to express that really depresses me.
Many thanks,
Les

Hi,,,Hey Les or anyone else,,I really don't care what or where you buy your equipment it's a free country and your choice....I do however think people should think about the consequences of buying non U.S. products....It's really getting hard to find anything made in the U.S. anymore.....I think if you were put a coil too big on the AT it would be very nose heavy and the benefits gained would be at their minimum....Actually the stock coil is an overkill and the ergonomics suffer because of it. The AT Pro with the stock coil hits Axe heads a foot and a half deep in plowed fields with ease...I find them all the time and sometimes it goes so deep I give up on some targets....I guess some of the deep targets could be a big hunk of iron several feet deep? I'm sure it would find certain cache's with no problem....HH....JJ

that's good to hear you get great depth on your coil and it sounds like it serves your purpose. my family has 40 acres of land. On our land we have sand, creeks, forrest, high minerals, clearings, sod with no minerals, freshwater, high water tables(you can dig 8' and find water). The land has been owned by our family for nearly 100 years. My goals are to find as many relics or maybe family heirlooms on this land as possible. I don't care how far i have to dig. I just think it would be cool to find and display in our cabin the stuff we find. That's all i'm looking for is a coil that will let me go as far deep as the coil will let me go. I chose the AT GOLD because the range it posesses with its threshold and all metal mode.It really seems like a brilliant machine. Oh yeah you can get it completely submersed in water to 10 feet. A HUGE bonus. it can find really small stuff to huge stuff. But if i'm going bigger, personally i'm going with the biggest and deepest. Just so i don't have that feeling i may have missed something. I will probably dig everything that shows a blip on the screen. Just not for treasure hunting but for the sake of the many kids playing safely on the land. Plus what kid doesn't love a treasure hunt. i could find hidden stuff and make a map and maybe surprise the kids. the uses are endless with a deep seeking coil. Just because everybody thinks metal detectors are to make money is bogus. Metal detectors make memories. I bet you all have the one dig you talk about first whenever metal detector is mentioned. I hope to make many memories with mine. My daughter and i take walks all the time through the woods and in revines just to find cool stuff. If something is valueable that's great and a huge bonus. Will the monotary value of a dig be more memorable? Maybe....but i think that may be coincidental.
So back to one of my original questions. Has anybody tried the 8 x 11 dd coil on the AT GOLD?
Thanks for any information, and i'm sorry this got so heated.

hey swkimball85,
I just read somewhere that the coil you bought is strictly for the at gold...The 13x14 is the one you want. The Storm is for the AT PRO. The Tornado is for the AT GOLD. Below is a link that states not interchangeable. between the at gold and at pro. Shows it as ABM(must be PRO in Russian???).Not sure why. I can't find that information. but it does say they are different. maybe you should try to get a hold of the seller and ask him directly. I tried emailing him but no return as of yet.

I just received my NEL Attack for my AT Gold and am very happy with it. Its really stable and deep as hell. Silver dime hits at 11 inches air test maybe more but house emi was a little disturbing. Ground balances great alittle heavy but manageable. Very well built. Dont forget to factory reset when u hook it up. HH Buck.

Do you know how the NEL coil you purchased handles gold nuggets? I am thinking of getting one of these coils for my AT Gold as well and just wondering if I could use it for gold too!
