I am thinking about buying one and I need some info on it good , bad and ugly :) . Like how well does it handle the saltwater/beaches , what type of depth does it get and how accurate are the tones ? Any info will be helpful . Thanks

I am new to sport and going on 3 months worth of MD'ing every day possible for at least three to four hours a day. I have the 300 BH and have heard of the super deep settings for this machine. I have never been able to duplicate the instructions on how to get the super deep tune. Do I find deep items. Yes I am I sure of how deep all the time? I guess I still wonder at time when targets are scarce.
Are the lights 100% no. Some times a nickel comes thru as a ring and sometimes new pennies come thru as iron. I have noticed this is only with new coins as older do register correctly.
If you discriminate then the caps mostly to sound wise, Pull tabs still come thru as rings by tone and lights. Is the machine perfect no but it does the job.
I think all machines are like people and have good days and bad days depending on the environment they are in.
I have had mine in the water some and it worked fine for coins. I have not found anything of value in the water yet but as some have told me I have not had any under me. Since I started in January i have three gold finds and three silver finds and a lot of Junk and coins. SO would I buy another yes would I but and Excal also Yes and there are many others I could say the same for.
A machine is only as good as the hands it is in. A mans hand guides the machine and his ears listen for tones and them his brain decides to dig or not. There are too many variables for man in this sport to determine one machine better than the next. I think only one who has used two different machines is the one to ask for advise. One user has same habits from one to the other and can truly answer the question on which is better.
I have thought about a Ecal for backup but have elected to get the PI Whites instead for more depth. I have hunted beside and with the Excal and they appear to be very good machine but as for comparing the two I have not used but one so I cannot do this for you. I am pleased with my machine and especially the battery life on the one I have used. In three months using every day I am on my third set of batteries.
Now that I have thoroughly confused you get the machine you will be pleased if you listen to it talk.
Hope this helps

Hi, nickels and pull-tabs fall within the gold range on detectors. If you disc out aluminum, pull-tabs, or nickels, you'll leave the gold stuff for others to find!

It's just a caveat of the way those metals are received through the discrimination process of metal detectors.:detecting:

Thanks!

Hello. this is my second year with the BH 300.and I love it . you can hunt in all metal mode and use your lights to decide if you want to dig or not. this machine loves gold . the only draw back is the coil wants to float a little. the depth is unbelievable. small gold items just cant hide from the BH 300.

Yep, I agree!!!

It's amazing how it finds the small targets and the super fast recovery works great too!!!:usaflag:
