Best Metered Detector for $229 or less?

Sven

Well-known member
It has to be lightweight for my wife, max depth detection of 5-6" is more than enough.

I think you should Look at Tasoro Brand ???? I have a Tiger Shark the Quality is good in thier units and thear Light, Mickfin

I would say the Ace 250

Ace 250, White's Classic ID or IDX, Bounty Hunter Discovery 3300, Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505

These would be my top choices in that price range

HH,

Used Minelab X-Terra 30,Whites Classic ID,Garrett GTA 350,Teknetics 4000 and Prizm lll this would be my pick in this order.

Hay Magic good to see you on the forun again??? Mickfin

Garretts Ace 250 for $212 or so as it has a lot of option of the big boys...along with a 2 year warranty...

I know you want something light weight but the Sovereign can be made very light with a custom shaft and such like I did. As light as the Whites I've owned now, and that's using the 15x12 SEF on my GT. A used older Sovereign model can be had for about $350 or less and nothing gets deeper in any kind of ground. Even older models are a match for the Explorer or Etrac in depth and some say even gets deeper in certain ground conditions than them. If you don't want to lighten it up via a custom shaft then just hip mount the control box, which it's meant to easily do right out of the box without going crazy with hardware mods. Great machine. I'd get a meter for it as well.

Thanks guys but, some of you are getting off base a bit.
My wife likes to have a metered detector with ID.
It has to be lightweight, physically she is not able to hold or swing a heavy Sov or some of the others.
The weight has to be in line with the ACE 250, White's Coinmaster or something similar. 2.75 lbs or less.
I don't have a large budget to play with currently, that's the reason for the $229.00 or less price for a new or used
machine.

I appreciate all your help.

For $212.00 "new" how can you go wrong.............. 100 people will give mostly other models and makes ( Some the same answer) in detectors. Why..because thats what they use, or have used. You asked for a specific price range, and that price range includes the Ace 250..............

Target ID
Depth meter
Bell tone
Sound ID
Adjustable Sens..........

Are their other models and makes in that range..Yes Sir............. but for proven performance..it's hard to beat the Yellow Fellow...........

Seeing that John of Edmonton swears by one and used it for over a year, my wife liked the the Garrett Gti1500 she once owned,
the Ace is probably the best answer.

Or there is the Whites Prizm line but I'm not sure how much the lower models cost. One of the lower end Teknetics models might do as well.

Sven, look for a used Tesoro. Very light weight, plenty of depth, reliable and fun.

That's for sure, I would but my wife wants a ID meter, one thing I won't argue about with her. :argue:

White's 6000 DI series III.

Funny thing, just picked one up, hip mount version.

:usaflag:You can't go wrong with the Ace 250....inexpensive, lightweight and very user-friendly. It's a coin-killer !!
