No kidding. I still cannot believe the condition of that coin, given its age and rarity, let alone you just finding it. There are regular, worthless clad quarters that are only two years old and are in poorer shape than that coin. That dirt must have been untouched, unchanged, unbothered for the entire time the coin was buried. Amazing.

That looks like a half dollar or dollar sized coin. I wasn't aware the 1928 quarter was that large.

Sorry I meant 1828 not 1928.
 
Wow, amazing. Awesome find. I recently found a three cent nickel/copper. Rare find and my first one. I wouldn't take ten machines for it. Rare finds are to rare. Sweet find, glad it all turned out for you. Good luck in 2016.
 
I might have missed it in the threads but tell us a few details on the find if you don't mind. What kind of site was it, was there a lot of trash etc. Thanks.
 
I've decided if I win the 1.4 billion on powerball Wednesday, I'm gonna take a couple weeks off work and do nothing but detecting!!! Nice Find!!!!
 
What a terrific find and the condition is just awesome. What did you do to clean it up before getting it graded ?
