Best find this year

Waynos

New member
A few months ago in Vermont I found what I thought was just a silver quarter.
I later learned the 1828 US Capped Bust Quarter was rare and valuable.
It was 8 inches down with minimal surface damage so I sent it out to be graded.
Came back AU55 grade and was appraised for $2000+
This was found with my AT Pro and 5x8 coil running pro>zero>no disc>auto ground balance.
A fellow detector loved this coin so much he is trading me his CTX3030 cause he has to have it for his collection.
I never imagined a find could reimburse me for what I invested in this hobby/obsession and get me my dream machine.
This find made success a reality.
So never give up or get discouraged..if it happened to me it could happen to you
Here's a few before and after grading pictures.
HH everyone!!!

Thanks...the seasoned detectors I was with were a mix of "omg" to "why did we invite him"
I think what baffled them is I knew nothing about coins and didn't know it was going to be such a big deal.
I have a few people from magazines wanting me to do an article submission but I'd rather do more detecting lol

Waynos, I saw that on TNET.
Once again I am thrilled for you.
That would be my best of a lifetime hunt.

All the best to you!

CF

And, I hope you aren't trading that coin for a detector. :nono:
You will regret that for as long as you live.

congratulations that's a beautiful find. I know the feeling of digging something and it's mind blowing find of a lifetime. Now you have a great story to tell Friends and family you might want to submit the story to Western Eastern Treasure best finds of the year. Thanks for sharing your amazing find. HH

Michael

congratulations on the pinponter at

WOW,that's beautiful. . Ive been fortunate to find 2 bust dimes in my hunting career. ..the bust coins just dont come up like hardly ever. . I just dont think i could part with it if it was mine.. that was alot of money to lose back in 1828...very very nice man, congrats. ..

That is an awesome coin in stunning condition:thumbup:

That is an awesome find. Not sure I could part with it if it were mine. :surprised:

Togg77,
He went back to his original machine and his CTX3030 was used 3-4 times.
So it is almost brand new and has plenty of warranty included all accessories and minelab extras with it.
He is a good friend and if either of us changed our minds we agreed to swap back.
But both of us are happy :twodetecting:

That is a Find of a Lifetime. I personally would not be willing to trade it for two CTX-3030's. Too neat of a find. It would reside in a place of Honor in my finds collection for as long as I remain.

I understand where your coming from.
I have a 1857 liberty seated half dime that I would never part with.
I traded for the CTX cause I am broke and it was the only way the wife was okay with me getting a $2500 detector lol

I am an old Broke Retired Sailor. I took a look around the house to see what I had that I had not used in years. Went on a selling spree. Bought a Sovereign GT. Took another look and found three highly collectible hand made knives by one of the premier knife makers that had passed away. Sold them and bought a Excalibur II.

Still looking thru my junk that I have acquired over the years to see what else I might be able to convert into cash.

I understand where you are coming from but there would be absolutely no way that I could part with a find like that. My wife teases me about all the jewelry that I have collected in the past two to three years. She says I will keep it till I can open my own jewelry store. Me Go back to Work. Nope not in this lifetime. LOl

The coin will appreciate in value. The detector will depreciate in value. In fact, it already has, by about a half. But, if you're happy, that's all that counts. You'll just have to get out there and try to find another treasure. :detecting:

Good grief - that's FANTASTIC - a true find of a lifetime - any Capped Bust coin is an outstanding find - but the Quarter's are ultra rare - congrats ! :clapping:

Great find,----------I have only sold 1 of my finds and a week later I went to buy it ( gold ring) and couldn't.-----after1----
