best coin shooter cibola.vaq or tejon

Of the 3 detectors listed, I only have the vaquero and it works quite well coin shooting.
I must say that I agree with the mud meister's statements on clad hunting. I love digging old coins but I have come to realize that there is not a whole lot of value to the old silver coins that I dig. I'd say a very large percent are only worth melt value. A clad hunter like mud can make more money with clad and gold finds then most silver hunters. The main thing is just get out and enjoy whatever you do.

Well said mudpuppy, sure I like to find an old silver .....BUT. I really like to find Clad . Loonies townies. Quarters ...... I cashed out $40 just in dimes recently

Sometimes I find silver , but I would never go out looking just to find it . What machine do you recommend for them loonies and toonies, I'm looking for a second clad magnet!

New guy here, I've been digging for just over a year with the Outlaw and you need to keep this one on the short list if your looking for the best coin machine from Tesoro.
Lovely sound with laser pin-pointing and light weight , she's a real coin hunting hound.

Cladcanada!:clapping:

You Canadian clad shooters really do have a special skill set and a tough target! :clapping: Your coins do not ping like ours at all!

I get a bit of your clad down here since I'm in a border State, and a furious clad hunter, but dang, that Canadian clad would drive most of us Yanks nuts, passed over as junk or not heard at all...I know you guys that hunt it have it mastered,..like you, I hunt clad and if silver shows up, ok sweet....Heres an opportunity for you Canadians to talk about your rig and settings for that high dollar Canadian clad...probably a great topic all of itself...its sure not like the US clad, and in fact a lot harder to hear and recognize...
Mud..

A lot has to do with recovery speed. I watch the videos from time to time and wonder if I'd still be sane at that speed

Mud I am only a few miles from USA boarder and get a lot of your coins . They sure do sound good compared to our steel washers. I have used other machines with screens and target I d but my Tesoro. Works so much better for our coins . I have a 8" compadre now but will be getting another Tesoro for summer..........now just what model???

Ive done well coin shooting with all my tesoros. If you are only after coins turn the disc to Zn and thats about all you will find. I had a day where I pulled about 100 coins, mostly pennies in about 10 minuets. I stopped digging because there were too many pennies. I bet there are alot more there.

I've had the Vaquero and Tejon, and I would cast my vote for the Vaquero as the better coin machine. The Tejon chases more deep non-coin targets, such as lead pellets, bullets etc. I found it to be a great relic machine, but not my first choice for a coin machine. However, I found the Deleon to be better than both as a coin machine. It has the depth of the Vaquero (in my soil), the legendary sweet audio of the uMax series, crazy long battery life, better for finding silver, and a basic display as a bonus. I dug 4200 coins in 2014, mostly with the Deleon.

Dan

Good info, thanks.

I agree with Upnorth and Dan...With absolute awe from reading Dels' Massive clad day post on the first page!

If a fellow wants to sweep up a lot of shallow clad coins in a short time, take a listen from one who has dedicated some considerable time on mastering this genre....you gotta have tones!, a light fast recovery rig...the more tones the better...speed sweeping shallow clad is a wonderful skill within itself..:clapping:.

Not all can do it, or have the right gear, or even want to, but for those that do...you NEED a rig thats light, fast and multitone...A serious massive clad grabber wants to hear those Q's and Loonies and Toonies above all others... Massive and repeatable clad grabbing is not an easy endeavor, yet everybody thinks Totlotting/shallow modern drop hunting is 'baby' work and beneath their decorum?

It requires certain skillsets, focus and speed, not to mention being in tip-top shape and ready for a workout! It should be looked upon with the same respect as a fellow hunting beach gold, relics or old silver...For some reason within our detecting community it is not...But its super fun and profitable! And I defy anybody who thinks not, to try a massive clad hunt with a monotone, slow recovery rig....To a Master clad grabber, 100 coins in a few hours is nothing, day after day..

A Massive Clad grabbers focus is all about the daily/hourly ROI..the 'G's' if you will...Somebody moving slow and deep with a high buck rig finds 200 silver dimes in one year? Excellent! That IS an admirable feat that we can all give props to and commend, good job on your chosen skillset!...but Guess what? A Massive clad grabber knocks down 10k+ coins for $800 plus year after year and dont even get a shout out?

In the ROI world of a Massive clad grabber, those silver dimes represent @$200, maybe $220 tops?...If we were all bums living under a bridge, living off our daily finds, the Clad grabber is king!..He found the most amount of money in the shortest amount of time, bought multiple bottles of ripple for all of the rest, yet that damn silver dime guy is looked upon as the guru!....We do look at things differently in our sport and our gear should reflect that and be up to the task at hand..Its far easier for a Massive Clad grabber to convert to old silver hunting than the other way around..lets face it, we have a lot more signals under our belt than anybody else out there in Detecting World....
Mud

That has got to be the GREATEST and most truthful post I have read in a LONG time! All hail---- the massive clad grabber is KING!

New guy here again, being that I was new to the hobby I thought what am I going to do with all this messy clad?
Well I cleaned all the 5, 10, and 25 cents with a diluted pool acid rinse. Once cleaned and dried I put all the coins into the coinstar machine. Then I took my cash down to the gold/silver guy and picked up 15 one ounce rounds of pure .999 fine silver. Yes, the pool acid dilution worked great!! Just be careful using that stuff.
Hey like I said I'm a new B. Now I love clad!!!

I did not know it at the time but 5 years ago when I got my built in the USA Tesoro Vaquero it would turn into a awesome Canadian coin machine. I still remember my first Toonie, I thought it was going to be another flattened pop can. The first few years were tough:confused: but I stuck with it with the attitude of changing my detector will not solve the problem but learning the detectors language will avoid the detector buy & sell treadmill that I witnessed on all the forums. By the way great bargain's to be had from people on the treadmill looking for there perfect detector.:clapping:
The long term attitude toward your detector and the hobby will pay off in the long run. I now think of the Vaquero as a Canadian Coin Cowboy eh as I have somewhat mastered what my ears see in respect to Canadian coins.

The important constants of Tesoro Vaquero (that I never tire of)

Light weight
Single Battery
3 piece shaft break down for travel
Coil options with out sending to factory
Manual Ground balance ( Nova Scotia soil conditions are all over the place)
Quality build
Excellent Discrimination circuitry on Canadian coins
All Metal Mode that gives amazing depth.

Minas man

yeah..that was me..327 coins in one day with my tejon and the 5.75 widescan..both discs maxed out..hit a target with the main disc and quick toggle to see if the tone quality was an exact match..no trash..only copper, clad, and silver..got 117 dimes that day..I don't give a crap if you believe it or not..
