Best Beach Detector

How much more depth is your pi getting over the sov Bri?I keep toying with the idea of a top end pi but it's the thought of having to dig everything at depth that puts me off.Looking at that haul though I might think again.

Six million dollar question because of coil size and beach conditions (black sand). Matched the coil sizes and you should be able to beat BBS/FBS and the lower price pulse machines by four to six inches depending on if its a ring or a coin. More marked advantage with our coins over a 22 ct ring with a Deepstar or TDI whilst the multifrequency detectors with the same ring and coin the ring/coin depths are more similar (if that makes sense).

Four to six inches is a lot of difference and worth the extra effort you have to put in.When funds allow I will have a go with a good pi like the whites......i know I am missing some stuff with the sovereign even though it is a great machine.Cheers for that.

Having read and absorbed all of the information offered by the various members of this forum, who have given their time in order to comment constructively in relation to my original question, I am now struggling to reach a final decision as to whether to purchase the Sovereign GT, primarily for use on the beach, with possibly some lesser use on pasture and plough. I have read many good reports about this model, not least those posted by U.K Brian, earlier in this thread. The White's TDI is also apparently a good choice for the purpose of beach detecting, although I can't really justify the extra expense of this model just now, and I am not even certain that my arm could support the weight of it for very long, even if I were fortunate enough to own one. I understand that Minelab are discontinuing the Sovereign GT (or at least this most recent version) advertised at between

Do like i do.Get a Tesoro Sand Shark for Salt water wading and the wet sand. Then get a Tesoro Tejon for the dry land. You can get both of those detectors with a life time warranty, for the price of one of the other detectors.I will tell you first hand, the Sand Shark is all you need on the salt beach.I hunt the dry sand with my Sand Shark.Go over and ask some questions on Tesoro forum.Felix found a diamond ring Saturday on a fresh water beach. The Sand Shark can go down 100 ft of water also.Choosing to be a beach and land hunter takes specialty equipment that would otherwise not be needed on dry land.

No he can't because the Tesoro lifetime warranty only applies in the States not Europe. Better warranties with many other brands. Also the Sand Shark has gone backward whilst many other P.I.'s have been improved over the years....where's the ability to change coils now ?

O gosh someone found a diamond ring ! Reminds me of Terry Sullivan who spends his life pushing Tesoro, yet last year says he's found four rings in two years.

I don't care what it reminds you of.Any company that backs up a electronic machine that goes 100 ft of water, gets the job done, for life, can hard wire my coil anytime. The Sand Shark is just fine for me.I can't help it you and who can't get along.

Its not a cheap machine where he lives, it doesn't have a lifetime warrantry where he lives and it doesn't perform that well where he lives. Forums are supposed to help people not mislead them.
