Been using my Silver Sabre micro max

A couple of months ago, I sent my silver sabre mm to Tesoro after I noticed my detector wouldn't detect in wet grass without chattering really bad. I bought the detector back in 1998 but after 17yrs. and 3 moves I could not find a sales reciept. I sent it in and explained my situation, fully expecting to pay what ever the cost for repairs would be. Got it back two weeks later fully repaired and a note from Rusty saying no charge. Hard to beat service like that. Thank you Rusty and Tesoro.
It's the only detector that I've been using the last few weeks. Really dry conditions here so I figured there was no sense digging deep targets. Just clad and jewelry hunting using a screwdriver to pop out targets. I've done way better than I expected, This shows you just never know what is going to pop out of the ground. The 14k gold ring I eyeballed a couple days ago while detecting where some bleachers use to set.
Thanks for looking.

Those are some nice finds and a what a good deed from Tesoro to get you back in the saddle:detecting:

Kansa54...

great coins & jewelry, yeah those Tesoros do the job !

Of course we can't forget 'site selection' because it's not every day you can pop a nice '34 Walking Liberty Half. Nice find. Certainly the other finds are commendable, too, including the gold ring you 'eyeballed,' but you wouldn't have if you were not out detecting. It's all part of the game.

I just finished some unpacking and kind-of washed my pick-up, and figured the beautiful sun and comfortable fall 62° is calling me to take my Silver Sabre microMAX, and maybe big brother Bandido II microMAX, out for some afternoon detecting in the park and on the beach. These two rewarded me with 2 gold rings in the last month and seven sterling silver jewelry items, but I've only pulled five silver coins in two months, none of which was a Half-Dollar.

Best of continued success with one of the best models Tesoro ever made. :detecting:

Monte

PS: Just curious which search coil you most often use? I have the 6" Concentric mounted on each of my microMAX buddies since I usually work trashier sites.

I prefer the silver sabre mm over my vaquero when hunting for clad and jewelry. I set the disc knob on 8 and dig mostly dimes and quarters. Very seldom will I dig a bottle cap, but with the vaquero I dig them all the time.
Monte, the walking liberty half was only two inches deep on public property. Makes me wonder how that could have been missed all these years. Was a surprise when that popped out of the ground.

that Ruby is awesome, and nice ring its on , I have to agree with you , I took my silver out to a soccer field and put the gain at 5 and just found quarters, nickels dimes and one bevy foil , my number one machine for the sports fields

When I am hunting a spot and primarily looking for modern change, I like to get the Nickels and Pennies as well. Keeping my Discrimination low, where I always have it set (at minimum on the Bandido II, Silver Sabre microMAX and Bandido II microMAX) also lets me find more coins plus silver jewelry, gold jewelry, and often some interesting 'keeper' items. I never run my Discrimination higher than minimum on those models, or just barely enough to reject Iron Nails on other detectors, like my Eldorado, that have a lower-end Discriminate adjustment capability.

If I know most coins are relatively shallow, like most crimp-on bottle caps, I can audibly 'classify' most of the Iron/magnetic-based bottle caps and ignore them where they are plentiful, such as around picnic tables and the like.

Most of the older silver coins I find are relatively shallow, like most coins, and have just been missed, or I picked a site that has been hit very seldom or not at all. Most are on "public property," but I'll hunt the out-of-the-way sections of old parks, schools, woodsy areas and such more than the popular, well searched portions. Back in 2010 I found two silver Dollars and seven Half-Dollars, six of them being silver, and all of those were located from 1" to 3" in depth. Most just happened to be in dense overgrowth on the fringes of old parks, or in big shrubbery areas, today, that didn't use to be that way.

I didn't get away on Friday as I had hoped, but I will be heading out bright and early Saturday morning, with my four Tesoro's and Makro Racer to see if I can rustle up a few older coins. Best of success to you and your Silver Sabre µMAX. I will have all my regular-carry detectors along, but my plan is to at least start my day by working the SS microMAX.

Woodchuck, good luck with your Silver Sabre Micro Max. I'm sure you will enjoy it.
By the way, that's quite a list of detectors you have used. I take it you've been at this a long time.

Actually Kansa54 I had gave it up for the longest time, then I regained interest when I moved down here to VA, the idea of finding civil war relics LOL, I have yet to do it.. Then I got hit with a curve ball in 2012 with IPAH, was healthy never had see doctors or insides of hospitals etc . Now its seems like all I do, it sucks being on oxygen 24/7 my life is still in limbo. That's why I haven't got to try my Silver Sabre yet. And what really sucks I NEVER SMOKED ! though I have had to breath enough of that second hand stuff. I can't stand smell of that crap.

Woodchuck, sorry to hear about your health issues.
You'll be in my prayers tonight. Hang in there and I hope to see you posting some great finds soon.

Man , really nice finds . I may get a Silver umax some day .
it is the Silver SABRE microMAX you ought to try and find rather than the current Silver microMAX. Then, affix a good smaller-size Concentric coil (I use the 6") and work it slowly and patiently to pluck missed keepers from trashier, brushier and more challenged sites.

Next to my Bandido II, Bandido II microMAX and micro-housed Eldorado, it is not just a handy unit to grab, but it is quite versatile and a truly 'fun' detector to use.

Speaking of Silver Sabre, I have one I'm going to sell.
I was thinking findmall had a classifieds section but can't find it.
Where should I list this thing?

There is a Metal Detector Classified Forum under the Classifieds and Feedback main header found on Find's Main page (which lists many headers to post under). You can post it there if you have met all the requirements to do so as found in their rules. Hope this helps.

BTW...which Silver Sabre is it and how much would you be asking. I'm kinda interested. Thanks!

Charles

Ok thanks. I thought I was going crazy! I somehow missed the classified section after looking several times.

My detector is the Silver Sabre UMax (micro max). It has the 8" coil and is in almost new condition.
Only a few minor scuffs on the coil.
I was thinking $250 shipped in the US
I will try to get it listed tonight with some pictures.

Well I guess I won't be listing it tonight.
The rules say you have to have 24 significant posts to list an item.
After this post I will still be short 3 posts.
I'll get it listed when I can.

Ok I got my Silver Sabre listed in the classifieds section for those who might be interested.
I'm having troubles getting photos up but working on it.
First the files were to big, then they were supposedly the wrong format.
