Beach Hunter ID 300

I am new at this and not really speaking from everyone elses perspective only as owner of the 300. I read all of the above and they are all true to some instances of hunting and I would think to all makes of machines. some days it seems like everything is deep and some days it seems they are on top. I have uncovered a lounge chair over two feet deep and a wire shelf at three and constantly hit cans( which read as coins by the light) at 18-24 inches. Am i good source for selling this product no. I already have visions of another machine in the near future and do not know what it will be. I t will be different from the 300 but what I do not know. I know there are enough excal in the area I sure someone would allow me to test run for a few minutes and maybe that. I think all in all from reading and listening to all some days you are the bug and some days you are the windshield. Same goes for locating and detectors.
I do get an iron reading on new pennies every now and then and seem to find this when the coin has salt buildup encasing the coin. If they made a perfect one we could all sit in our lounge chairs on the beach sipping suds while it found, dug and brought back the objects we are after.

Hmm in chest deep water maybe the lights are hard or imposible to see, i have gone the Excal way

I think now I will look to chest mount instead of hip mount. That would bring the lights under my nose. The ocean was super clear yesterday and wouldn't need the chest mount, but didn't go in. I found a piece of light copper with diamonds shapes every few inches an foot and a half deep. It is all bent up and don't want to straighten it out fearing it may break. I think it might be embellishing from an old ship. I will take a picture and post. Any ideas on how to straighten? Boiling water and heat maybe?

Thats the best way, A strap over the neck & another around your back so it doesn't float up on you. I use the straps with the plasiic clips. This works great

Hi Gobble Gobble! That sounds like the way to go. Strap it on! I am getting used to using my second hand BHID300. I have been practicing on supertuning but when I go to turn the sens to max in AMM I do not get a high shrill in step 5. The threshold goes silent. I reset and go to AMM and ground balance again anyway and it seems to work. I am thinking to send it in for a tune up checkout since the warranty is still good. Here is the pics of the copper band which I think may be part of an old ship embellishments. One end is squared and the other end is pointy. I dug it a foot and a half down. Has anyone have an inkling about it? Found on the coast of New Jersey. I would like to straighten it out but do not want to ruin or break it. Any suggestions?
Thanks all and for this great site!

i let it float right in front of my face use just the neck strap....use all metal....visual ID of the lights! Once you learn this detector...you'll be amazed at some of its capability's....the manual settings such as G.B, Sensitivity do take a little time to figure out...and as you move about the beach remember the make up of the sand can change alot from one place to another....you have to know what little adjustments you need to make...no one can tell you these unless they are hunting right beside you...you have to figure it out your self....it takes time...but well worth it!! this detector has got me some really great finds!! been using it for years....and can not see me ever wanting another!! Unless Whites improves it some how??

Does the switch come of on it's own or does it hit your side ? .Is it mounted on the shaft or chest, belt mount ? If it does it on it's own could be bad , Never heard of this happening

I think my Beach Hunter 300 is a fine machine!

Yes, the larger "AND" still sensitive to small gold 12" coil covers plenty of beach with its fast sweep and recovery speed.

You can bet as someone recently posted on this question, IMHO you "WILL" recover more targets with a larger coil and faster
sweep speed going along the sand!

I've made some of my best finds with this detector in salt AND fresh water!

Hunt in "all-metal" using the led lights to ignore iron for nice depth. I haven't felt the need to super tune using the 12" coil as I get plenty of depth
hunting that way (used to super tune with the older stock 9.5 coil though).

Thanks!:thumbup::usaflag:

Found this last week, using the BHID300 in all metal mode, sensitivity 3/4. First time I ever found actual TEETH with gold fillings in it.

On the beach, wet sand. Lit up the yellow light which means DIG IT ! Not sure how deep..maybe 2-3 inches, but it does show that big coil is sensitive.

I have heard of this "super tuning" of the BHID 300. I don't recall the instruction manual mentioning that procedure. Why do you think this is? Why is it some hidden secret and why does White's not trumpet this capability, if it indeed exists? Just curious. Thanks.

comisoas , Google the term.... Andy sabisch supertuning the bhid 300 ..../with a little digging on the whites forum you will see the instructions on supertuning ( from the year2010)

I have seen it, yet my questions still remain..... I don't recall the instruction manual mentioning that procedure. Why do you think this is? Why is it some hidden secret and why does White's not trumpet this capability, if it indeed exists? Just curious. Thanks.

Keep in mind that manufacturers don't always know the full capacities of what they designed. A case in point years ago I had Prius and learned a style of driving called pulse and glide .....mileage increase was dramatic, exceeding EPA mileage estimates ... not mentioned in the owners manual.

It occurred to me that if the instructions on super tuning look too complicated the average user may decide not to buy their detector , it simply be a business decision not scare away customers

Gamiller2, I have a Prius and checked into the pulse and glide because of your comment above. I have also increased my mileage dramatically....thanks! It also makes driving more fun now. Never know what you may learn on the forums!
