i hunted my local beach for a 1/2 hr today, i got near a powerline, and the vision went crazy, sounded like a arcade game. i was in the salt beach program. i tried to off set frequency, tried to lower rx gain with no result. anyone know anyway to stop it from going crazy near powerlines? i would really appreciate replies. i also tried correlate and single 2.5 frequency. any other ideas i can try? thanks keith

Hi Keith, First turn down the RX. Default is 8...I think. I have worked around a swing set at RX1 and it worked fine. As I went away from the swing set, I bumped the RX back up.

Hi Keith,

You went the wrong way. Tray 22.5 kHz only mode. Should clear it up.

Also, lowering RX Gain and Disc Sensitivity both can help.

Was hunting the salt water beach in Myrtle Beach and when I got under the pier where the power cable went out to the fishing shack, it went wild and the screen looked like a hospital patient having cardiac arrest . . . tried a few things with no success . . . had not tried switching to single frequency - Good tip Steve I will have to try next time I run into this

i love the way you explained that Andy, that was the words i was looking for. the hospital machines. lol thats what mine did.

Ran into something similar. I was helping a couple who had lost a wedding ring in their backyard. They had a buried cable tv cable that drove my V3 nuts. I noticed that when I went into pinpoint mode I got a wild warbling sound. As long as I stayed 10 feet or so away I could operate. And yes, I did find the ring, and the wife cried...

The absolute worst are the hidden electronic dog fences. Neighbor across the street has one. I can hear it with every detector I own from 30 feet away.
