Getting some coins on the beach. A few old ones, first Mercury dime, mostly newer coins. Can't seem to find the gold.

Sometimes it's just very elusive. My favorite spot is the wetsand area. See the people walking that's where I hunt. Depending on the machine you are using most of the time detectors go nuts right at the line where the water washes up. This protects the treasures from being found. If you start hitting med, small sinkers or darker sand CRAWL!!! It's there.

Thanks guys. I don't venture out too far in the surf. It's still a little choppy here this time of year and even trying to dig a target at the waterline is a major effort. I don't normally find fishing sinkers. I was thinking that is probably because it's pretty rare to see someone fishing from the shore. We normally fish out on the reefs here, but it could be those sinkers are hiding out with the gold. I was hoping that gold might be found among other heavy targets I have been able to retrieve, but so far the only gold I've found was either a fresh drop or a fluke. No clear pattern as to where all that gold is. I know it's out there somewhere. Does anyone know what the ratio to clad vs. gold is? I read the clad to silver ratio is 10:1 and I've been able to able to dig up some silver, though not much and certainly not 10:1.
