Basic ear training CD for Excalibur

bazza

New member
Hi from down under.

I have exhausted all retail outlets in Australia looking for Tony Diana's CD on training your ears to the Excalibur tones.
Tony's myspace web page directs you to Kellyco.
I have tried emailing Kellyco to place an order for his product but never seem to get a reply (I fugure they don't deal outside the States perhaps, but this is just a guess).
Does anyone know where I can purchase a copy of his CD who posts internationally, from the feedback, it sounds like a great product.
Cheers

Bazza

Your best ear training for the Excal is PRACTICE Not all Excal's sound the same Save the $35.00 and just get out there and learn your machine. Won't take long-if it doesn't nul-dig it!

Bazza, the fellow who puts the tape out is Tony Diana, may be someone may have a contact number. I have the CD and it was worth it as I was having trouble with the understanding of the tones and why, it helped me a lot.
Erik, is right there is nothing like experience, with the CD I feel it accelerates the learning curve.
I am looking at the back of the CD jacket and their is a contact web site www.myspace.com/betfe its a great machine HH

Having 3 excals I can tell U for certain that no 2 excals sound the same If it beeps-DIG IT

If you're hunting in Saltwater , the salt will rust away most everything you don't want to dig anyway ( except a few thousand pull tabs ) ..... So as erikk says ...."if it beeps , dig it " ......JIm

ok let me chime into this too, as i do have the training ear cd, as i still use it just to TRAIN my ears before i get to the beach, its not going to help you find things on the beach but it does what it meaning, it only helps to TRAIN your ears, yes you still need to walk and swing and learn your machine and take the time to learn it,youll find the good stuff just take your time and swing and yesyoull do allot of digging, just check out my facebook pics of my finds..
have fun
john

If I may why would you need to worry with this if your hunting the beaches in AM mode which you should be and since your in AM mode you have only one tone to deal with. If it BEEP! dig it:thumbup:

If you need to keep being trained glue a nickel to the inside toe of your boot for .05 you will know what a gold ring sounds like

For my Sovereign I carry a 36" (.9 meter) wooden stick with all the common US coins, two types of pull tabs taped to it, and probably should add a gold item, but I do have a nickle amongst the coins. I use it as a tune up for my ears with the Sovereign just before I hunt. I realize this is an air test and as such it is not 100% and that a test garden would be better.

I have an Excal 1000 on the way and I am going to see how the stick works with it. Just an idea.

DISC. 1 SENS. 1 oclock THRESH barely audible VOL. as loud as you can stand it. Start with those settings get a big scoop and if that machine goes off DIG and try to get the target on the first scoop. HH :minelab:

The problem i see with the CD is that on each different stereo you play it on the sounds will be slightly different and not quite what things should sound like in your headphones. I downloaded some sounds years ago of the excalibur, if i listen on the laptop they sound one way if i listen on the pc(5.1surround) they sound completely different, i would imagine in the car different again so the end result could be confusing to say the least. do as previously suggested, if it beeps dig it, that way you know for sure and will learn whats good on your machine

Actually there is more to the CD then tones. I was already familiar with the tones when I got it. But it pulled a lot of it together for me. I only listened to it twice. But those 2 times, well they were worth the money that I payed for the CD. There is more in a tone then a tone, and Toni explains that well. If you listen to the CD your hunting will become more meaningful and fun imho.

If only the CD could be purchased direct from Toni, it would probably sell a lot better. I waited to buy a used one, because of my own personal reasons.

Best Regards,
Steve

Boy I tell you what in the week I had my Sovereign I been digging stuff I know I wouldn't on my other detector but I know that's part of the learning. I feel like a meter would help here.

I am interested in one of these CD's but i am in the UK. I would gladly do a trade for a copy of it. A free Minelab Pro-Tector cover (etrac / explorer / quattro or safari) see www.pro-tectors.co.uk for more info.

So, anyone fancy making me a copy for a Pro-Tector sleeve?

Cheers

Is that legal or is it a flagrant violation of copyright law?

Don't know and to be honest not really bothered. I would of happily purchased one from your Kellyco, but they will not answer emails and they dont seem to want to ship outside of the US. I have got it sorted now anyway, and thanks for your input

Well I am a bit bothered since I am the one that did the CD. My attorney is not bothered but more than a bit interested since forum posts constitute legal documents and thus a wonderful paper trail. But Alas it is a shame not to offer a solution to your dilemma. Since I am the one that did the CD I can send you an original and not a copy (many copies by the way have been spoofed with the wrong signals) in exchange for one of your ace 250 covers. Very nice covers by the way! PS I am contacting Kellyco to find out why they are not replying to overseas requests for the CD? If that is indeed the case then I will sell directly. Will also be glad to donate a few to this website for use as the admins see fit.

It is a well done CD and it would be sad and a real shame to see that the originator/author/composer/producer is not fairly compensated for it. I am glad that you weighed in on this Electro.

Best regards,
Steve

Thats a done deal.

Send me a copy of the CD with your return address and i will certainly get a garrett cover to you in exchange

I have PM'd you with my address

Thanks

Steve
