Barber Quarter / Tokens & Tags / 1950s Hubley "Champ" cap gun

Finds are from the last few weekend hunts since my last post. All finds were found fairly close to home at public sites with my Minelab eTrac.
I am impatiently waiting for my hybrid SUV to arrive so I can combat the higher gas prices.

The barber quarter was a nice surprise found on Saturday at a public site that was a turn of the century horse track. I also pulled 3 Indian head pennies there.
The Hubley "Champ" cap gun is probably late 1950s and was found at an old elementary school. It was about 10 inches deep.
The brass octagonal merchant token is from a small town that has a population of about 65.

A couple strange and unexpected finds were 2 bottles. One is dated 1944. The screw cap on the bottles were ringing up on my detector.
I also pulled a complete 1974 license plate. I had noticed the city had torn out some
trees on the edge of a park so I hit that area and pulled these items. I also got a mercury dime there.

Coin Finds
1905 Barber Quarter
11 silver dimes back to 1940 (one is a 1955 Canadian)
1943 silver war nickel
3 Indian head pennies (1888 oldest)
1936,1937 Buffalo nickels, a few Jefferson nickels from 40s-50s
Not pictured - 19 wheat pennies back to 1910
Clad 1976 half dollar
1921 1/12 Anna. This is a coin from India that was made into a necklace
Oriental aluminum coin. Probably 1960s.

Minnesota Dept. of weights and measures brass tag
2 Merchant tokens and a brass amusement token
square Ivory soap token
2 newer amusement tokens (probably 1970s)
"Magic" aluminum shaker container (patent 1901 - also found at old horse track site)
Old sports? pin (thin pin with circles in middle)
Model T valve stem cover
Polar bear medal
Campus pendant or zipper pull
Intact 1950s Hubley "Champ" cap gun
Makeup compact
2 bottles (one is dated 1944)
1974 ND license plate

Lot of nice finds there Dave and I am sure the sites have been gone over by many over the years, just need some that knows their detector well to find them.

Another nice batch of silver and other finds variety. Cap gun not in to bad of shape for living underground so long. Good hunting! HH jimn tn

Amazing amount and variety of silver coins.. the other items are interesting too!!
And I would not be surprised if these sites you are detecting are considered “hunted out” too!!!

Another amazing "couple of weekends" Dave. The variety from public sites is always fun to see and you and your Etrac never disappoint. I'm a trade token guy and am impressed at how regularly you find them. You must have quite a collection.

Nice finds Dave look a lot nicer than the river finds I made lol driving around looking for spots can be real time consuming so me I'm sticking close to home travel on the river is about $12.00 to fill up my 15 four stroke!

Thanks Rick! It is still fun and great exercise. That hybrid SUV I am getting soon has a combined 40 mpg avg so I won't have to worry about driving more again.

thanks for taking a look Jim. Yes most of the time the trigger guard is busted on those so I was happy it was intact.

Thanks Ted. Yes, last weekend it was 95 degrees and the ground was hot and dry. Also my Garrett Carrot pinpointer was going out so I pulled the new one I had with and found out it was a fake! crappy depth and it turned on differently.
Didnt know these existed but they do. Same exact packaging and look. You can find videos showing those fakes on you tube. I had bought that one on ebay last year. I wasnt very happy.

Yes, I am very patient and do alot of walking until I hit an area with iron or deep targets.

Amen to that. I told my wife I should mount a detector rack on her Harley.
