Jim, I just got a cd from Kellyco that is for ear training for the Excalibur It was twenty bucks. But an awesome CD to get a head start on the tones for the Excalibur. Here's the thing, by listening to the small subtle differences in the notes you can tell cash from trash, pull tab from gold, etc. There is no reason in the world why such a CD couldn't be made for any other machine. The only requirement would be a sound room where they record musicians. Can't figure why someone hasn't done it yet.

What is so new about that?

Even before tone ID people were talking about how good and bad targets were different in the way they sound.
It takes a lot of time to develop an ear for that.
Anyone that uses different detectors every other time out aint gona ever get it.
It is like every other developed skill ... some will never get it ... some will get it fast.
The best way is to get out and use your detector and pay attention to what sounds are made and what you dig up.
It was true in the 70's and it is true now ...
the more you get out and use your detector the more you will learn about it and the more good stuff you will find.

I do not believe sounds coming from a CD will help anyone ... except perhaps the seller of the CD.

You need to hear those sounds on your machine, in the field, and get the feedback of digging the target.
Even then it is a subtle subjective thing and not 100% foolproof.

Just my 2 cents worth.
