Bad deal and dishonest MIcfin

Both of these gentleman are active members here on the forum.. I believe that both have the best of intentions with no malice toward the other... These things happen from time to time and most of the time it involves a lack of communication.. I just hope that they can get their differences worked out in an agreeable manner... Best to All, Richard

I agree with Richard. Too often one party or the other gets jumpy or angry over a perceived slight and then an argyment ensues. If everyone is smart they'll always take two steps back before they reply back. I've had several successful sales and trades on this and other forums. It's a great way for all of us to have access to specialized equipment and consumers.

Just my 2 cents or is it 25 cents by now.

Bill

I totally agree with some previous comments made, but I must add this as my point of view.

I guess it boils down to his word against mine...Except for the fact that I HAVE pics of both detectors and witnesses from Whites that can attest to the condition of BOTH detectors. There is no question about that.

I would say again....what would YOU do? When you get a very used detector with damage? Then he says, he will work with you on the deal...then doesn't return emails and doesn't answer the phone??? THEN after 2 days, hangs up on you when you call him. Is that right??? Is that honest??? Along with the fact that it took him 3 times to send all the items promised. Why didn't he send all at once??? What is the point???

I dint like it when some people say their detectors are "NEW, LIKE NEW & PRISTINE", when in fact they are "used", and some badly at that. If someone didn't like the detector I sent them...I would just take it back...no fuss...no muss....but this was "detector extortion". They just think you will not want to bother and not "ruffle any feathers". I have no desire to cause any potential problems but will not be abused either.

He says the he lost money on the deal...if so, Why didn't he just return the detector as I wanted him to do. I didn't like the trade but he wouldn't return the detector and wouldn't communicate with me....I ask you....What am I suppose to do?....just say...."oh well", its just a difference of opinion on condition. I will say this again...Yes, both detectors were used..no question about that but he said,,,,his was "Like New". LIKE NEW DOES NOT have worn, dirty & heavily scratched parts. Period! Mine was not perfect but as close to it as you can get it. It could have been in the showroom! As I said, it was tested and inspected at whites factory the day it was sent out, with NO issues or problems.

In sum...mickfin has now offered a settlement. I would rather have my detector back but have decided to accept this, under the circumstances. I have to give him credit for the settlement but I dint think it would have happened if I hadn't posted it on here or had started legal action against him. I would normally say, "let this be by gones", but this was not just an error of opinion on condition....this was just the wrong, in so many ways. Rather than business at hand being taken care of, this became a personal attack. Too many stories....that changed, several times. Do I think hes a terrible guy? NO, I dint...I just dint like his way of doing things and wish him good hunting but reserve the right not to do any business with him in the future.

Thanks to the support from people who sent me public & private email on this issue. I have no desire to offend anyone in my comments but I think its important that you know where I stand.

All things considered, this matter is closed.

However! The fallout for Micfin will probably be worse than one might immagine. I don't even know him but after reading all this, my paranoia level about dealing with him would be greatly elevated. That may be totally unfair! But where there's smoke theirs fire. Just who got burned I don't know but I plan to avoid the fire. This is where the words slanderous and personal damage pops into the picture. Neither are good. jim

And what would you do under the circumstances.???

...this HAD to be done. I was relating my personal experience with this member in this forum. There was no slander involved. Everything was accurate and could and can be proven. I think hes a decent enough guy but made a mistake and he has bascially corrected it.

As said before. I consider this matter closed.
