Back to the play ground today :detecting:

How does the saying go? Burn me once......burn me twice....
Don't give that guy any more leads - let him get his own. I've been detecting off and on since 1975 and I've always been sort of a loner. About a year and a half ago I bumped into a young guy that "dicovered" a hot spot at the same time as I did. Well, we had fun working it together. (over 30 LC and other large coppers, some silver and many Indians etc. We've been sharing locations since, but neither of us would think of pounding the other guy's location when he wasn't there. You have to have some sort of ethics. What goes around...."how does that karma thing go?

Good hunting Derrell. I enjoy your posts. Bruce in Ct

Darrell, ive used both the DFX and the SE... i dont think you have a lot to worry about. I dont mind hunting behind other people gives me a little more satisfaction. Besides, dont you have your quota this year on silver. You need to do some clad hunting... getya one of those fancy clad counters and put it under your name. LOL.

keep hanging around the explorer forum!! I like to see your post!!!

Hey John
Hear is the thing... He was out detecting a old baseball field when a old fella came up to him and asked if he wanted to search his yard.. There was a school back in the 1800's there... He found all kinds of goodies including one early 1800's German Large Cent.. He never once invited any one of us to go hunt it with him...
I had to work all day again today... He hunted that play ground for every bit of 8 hours... I'm not kidding... funny thing is,, in that 8 hours he only found 3 silver dimes and a couple wheat's.. I think something is wrong with the guy... If 4 hours passed and i only had a couple coins... I definitely am moving to a new location lol
Im glad you enjoy my post John!!
I hope to see some more from you!!!
Derrell

Damn Derrell, that's pretty low of him. I would just stop detecting with him period. Maybe then he will get the hint.

When I take somebody to a spot and show them where I've done well, I honestly don't expect them to go back there without me. And if they do, I just stop hunting with them. I can find more respectful people to detect with.

Sounds like you need to find someone else to hunt with besides this leach. Some thing happened to me over a fishing spot. I drove by after work and this guy and one of his buddies were cleaning it out. First time is their fault the second time it happens it's your fault.

That is why it's sometimes best to keep it to yourself, especially if the person has taken over your spots before. Even though it is fun to share a site with others, it isn't any fun to sit at work while you know that this person is working your spot and finding coins that should have been yours. I would continue working this site hard and clean it out and then move onto the next one. Just remember what happened from this and the next site that is loaded will be all yours. Congrats on squeezing out a few more keepers and better luck next time to you D. Good Luck and HH.

location in the deep woods somewhere. I'd go easy on my friend, they are hard to come by you know. He is just not thinking, but I would chalk it up to experience and closely guard my hot spots. I do. If he wants to go hunting just put him off or go to an area you have scoured, and save those sites you work to find. "experience is simply the name we give our mistakes.":lmfao:

Derrell, I think you said it best in your original post- "you think a guy would learn", only yer gonna have to be "that guy", cause he sure ain't.

Thanks Guys!!!!
well today i was at work again... He went back to the play ground today with out me... He hunted it from 11:00 am till 5pm and came in my work and showed me two wheat penny's his dfx sniffed out.. While he was sitting there he said the place was cleaned out.. And he wasn't probably going to go back till Saturday and use his I believe 8x14 inch head and search for deep stuff... Well i said.. I think ill go on Saturday " Really i was going tonight" and throw on my pro coil... Crank the sensitivity way up and pull some deepies my self.. As soon as i said that,,,, he said,,., Well I'm going home to get my head and go back out... I just rolled my eyes because i new exactly he would... Well he went back out and then called me 3 hours later to tell me he found a 1935s wheatie... " Big deal" And told me that was the last wheatie in the place... I told him i would be the judge of that!!! I went out tonight and two steps in i got a deep signal... Dug down and pulled a wheatie... In my 2 hour hunt i pulled one Merc.. 1936 and 5 wheat pennies.. over his 3 wheats in 7 hours lol I cant wait to let him have it tomorrow... Sometimes i really love life

I really haven't said anything to him to let him know i was ticked off... I dont care that he hunted the area... I just think it would have been respectful to wait for me instead of pounding that place while i was at work!!
Im just going to let it go and just let him wonder why i haven't invited him out anywhere... And definitely keep my sweet spots to my self!!!
Thanks everyone!!
Derrell

So................................when you break his hip..don't feel bad..BE HAPPY !

Dang that sucks!!! I mostly do group hunts on the weekends with 2 to 7 people out in the woods along one of our rivers. We are always looking at old maps & old areal photos and when we think we found a new place to hunt we all just head over there as a group. (In fact were are meeting up here in a few hrs to try a new spot that one of my bud's found). I'm totally happy with our setup as almost every where we go we run across other MD'ers and they all say the same thing "we have been pounding this site for years and its all hunted out". That's cool but we all seem to squeak out oldies on every trip. The thing that gets me is I post on more than a few forums and post youtube videos and I am constantly asked where my sites are. I always invite them to join us on our next hunt but most (not all) people aren't interested and they just want to go by them self's, in that case I don't give up my spots.
