Back to the play ground today :detecting:

Well-known member
Well i am kinda upset and bummed!! The other day i called my buddy over to hunt with me at the playground site.. He uses a DFX and i figured he couldn't do much harm... And i was right that day... I think he found a couple wheat's and a rosie.. to my hand full of silver and 22 wheat's.. Well today is another story... I have to work from 12 to 7 all week this week... While he gets off what ever time he feels like it... Im stuck at work today and he calls me to inform me that the parks department is moving the rest of that soil and he was going to go down there and sit like a creeper until they were done... Oh and he would be sure to call me if he found anything!!! What a JERK!! Well why i am stuck working thinking about quiting my job he calls me and said.. I just pulled a 1917 Walking liberty Half " 2 inches in the ground"... Then he calls 20 mins later and informs me he just pulled a washington quarter!! About now i am really thinking about quiting!! He started detecting that site at 12 pm and didnt stop until 6:30 to come and show me his finds.. :veryangry: he ended up with that half and quarter,, like 7 wheats and like 1 merc!! Then he went back out to the site!! I know it's city property but i still think it is kind of Ahole like of him to go and pound my new spot that i told him about while im stuck at work!... I don't come across honey holes very often and this really made me angry!!!!! He has done this to me more than once... You think a guy would learn!! I am just going to stop telling him where i find stuff,.. I'm not one to lie but i guess im going to start with this guy!!! I guess i shouldn't be getting so worked up.. but i cant help it:angel: Well now that i am done venting... I did finally get out to the site tonight.. I didn't go right after work.. couse i knew he was going to be there and i didn't want to look at him lol After he left I straped on my 12x15 inch MOP and went to work... In about a hour and a half i had 3 wheats... One really deep that sounded to much like silver!! I hate those... And 1 DEEEEEEEEEPPPPP 1946 Washington!!!
Thank God the the Explorers is all that i can say!!!!! LOL take care everyone and sorry for my ranting :ranting:
Good luck!!
Derrell

:starwars:I know what its like Derrell, have told him a few times and felt the burn...you should have just told me...btw, did I show you the coins I found there while you were working?? He will get those shallow coins and many of those 40's wheats too, but as you know, he has his DFX set wrong or something and he won't pull those deep coins, he will pound that place until they start work there and you just hay to pay the price for telling him!! Anything deep will be yours...or MINE if I go while you are working!!!:bouncy: Congrats on the quarter paint boy!!

Just common courtesy to me. If someone lets me know about a site I don't know about...and invites me along...I wouldn't hunt it without him.
Even if he told me to go ahead...I probably wouldn't feel right about it. Just like G always tells me....I'm too nice of a guy.
I'll forgive anybody the first time...but if you cross the line with me a second time:nono:...you best be stayin' away from me:smoke:...unless you are looking to have some dental work done anyway.
Anyway...nice finds buddy.

Hey "D"

Sorry to hear about that kinda Damper.
Funny thing is is that I had almost the same thing going on but the guy took friends with him as well. I have learned to be very shy about letting others know about where my sweat spots are as Vultures are waiting and quick to devour...the only good thing I can say is they probably aren't as good as you at getting the tricky stuff. Don't sweat it bud you will do hands down better to let it lay off your shoulder learn from it and keep up doing YOUR thing without a worry about that as there is a lot of inconsiderates around. I have places to take friends to but I also have spots I try hard to keep quiet about...My favorite question " where did you find that?"...as they seriously think your just going to draw them a map with an X on it?
If they don't show respect for that kind of respect you showed them then your better to just stay clear of them and from sharing your spot.
Glad to see more adventures of the "D" ...just do what you do... bring up them lost treasures back into the sunshine!

Good luck

Just my take..but I am kinda straight forward when I get done wrong..

LOL Thanks Jack!!
I you can hunt there anytime... I called you and wanted you to go down there so that DFX couldn't have all the glory!!! lol The highlight of my day was when i called him to inform him that i just dug a deepie Washington that he walked all over :smoke: I love life some times

That is what i thought Bryce!! Common courtesy is the exact word i was looking for!!! I'm a nice guy as well!! But i'nm sure in the heck not oppose to giving someone a round house kick to the face either  I'm not going to say anything to him,,Ill just let him wonder why i don't call or invite him anywhere any more....... Thanks Brotha
And good luck on your next hunts!

Derrell,we all learn from our mistakes.I never give up a good site until I'm through hunting the prime areas.I wouldn't let it bother me there are more sites and you learned a valuable lesson.

Thanks Utah,,
I have till Mday to work the site before they put mulch and new equipment in... So that gives me time to stay low and slow and dig those faint chirps!! The guy informed me as well as everyone that he was going to pound the place everyday,, The take his Whites PI detector and look for deep signals... That's a all metal detector so i told him good luck with that because that place has tons of trash and iron  You been diggin much Utah?? I hope to see some finds from you soon!!

You are right Elton...
But he is a customer of mine as well... I cant start to much of a conflict.. I would probably get canned lol Even though i would love to break his hip

Your right Ron.
I just get excited when i find some goodies.. I want to let people know!!!! And unfortunately i have learned this lesson more than once!!

Derrell is just too nice of a guy to do that...the person he is talking about is actually a nice guy...just he doesn't understand the curtousy aspect of things...and doesn't understand that maybe he can wait until Derrell gets off work, then go...problem is Derrell gets the best of him every time...and the only time he can find coins is when Derrell is not there...same with Dave(legal), watched Dave dig a couple Walking Liberty Halves and DFX had zilch for his time!! Derrell has a right to be upset, public or not!! Did I say I hunted that spot when Derrell was at work?? :surprised:

WHAT... Jack... you???? You hunted my spot to??????? you JERK!!!!!! HAHA Like i said ... I called you and told you to go down there so that DFX could have all the glory,,, The funny thing is that he sounded mad or worried when he found out you were coming down lol

Sorry to hear you got your claim jumped Derrell. I hunt one of my buddies sites all the time but only after he is done. He has an XLT and I ask him where he hunts and then re-hunt that area only. He misses enough I get as much as he does.lol My buddy doesn't get out much so I even let him have first crack at my sites we go to. If you lived closer, I'd let you take my TDI and show up with it when your buddy shows up with his PI.lol Want to mess with him take some copper plated Bbs and salt the site with them. It will drive him crazy. I don't have a problem with guys hunting my sites, they are mostly on private property and they hunt them at their own risk. My hunting buddy had a guy hunt a church site he'd found. The funny thing was the guy got seen by someone and they called the sheriff. The guy called my buddy and wanted to know who gave him permission so he wouldn't get arrested for tresspassing. My buddy wouldn't tell him so guess what happened.lol I don't think the guy hunted anyone else's sites for a while. Hope you can get some more keepers from the place before it gets covered again.

That blows man. I would never jump somebodys spot like that. way uncool.

I can relate to the work thing though. I remember a time back in 1990 when I was stuck at work while Cousin Mike AKA Michelob and my dad were hunting one of our favorite spots. I was so jealous they were out playing while I was working.

They even had the nerve to come by when they were done and show me all the goodies they found. I especially knew something was up when Michelob has this big grin on his face then plops an 1856 Seated Half!!! in my hand.

Someday I will forgive him:rant:

Nice finds there Derrell.:clapping: Only one silver this time for you, but I bet there is some more waiting for you. Good luck on your next outing. HH.

Eddie

Hey Derrell -

Has "DFX" taken you to his sites that he has researched, or does he only hang on to your coattails to your sites? If he's not reciprocating your generosity, and only relying on you to produce new sites - well, that ain't cool! I hope you find a replacement honey hole soon. Take care. Johnny
