I recently realized my iron bias was changed to FE-0 on my Equinox 800. Reason: I had upgraded the software to the most recent version. I wanted to see if this version made any difference at this old playground. In upgrading, I didn't realize my iron bias defaulted back to FE - 0. In any case I changed it to F2 -0. Changing it to this setting, its actually -1 in iron bias compared to FE-0. Off the the playground... I wasn't there maybe 10 minutes when I received my first signal. Out pops the 1889 IH penny! Out of the 4 silvers, only one presented itself as a textbook signal. The others were extremely iffy but with 50 tones I could hear a Pip squeak of a high tone in the midst of the iron junk that plagues this area. TID was useless as it was bouncing from negative numbers into the low 20's. I dug a bit more iron then usual with this lower iron bias setting but was worth it. I also found 16 wheaties with the earliest being 1911. It's slow moving for me and I did not cover much area however the very slow scanning method / recovery speed is continuing to pay off for me.
When you are in a great spot where you have found old coins before, slow down your recovery speed and scanning speed. You may be very well surprised in what you find. Good luck and have fun!
