Betty and I are looking at dropping our home owner Ins.Last hurricane we had $54,000 damage to our house.State Farm Ins.Payed it with no problem,But this year the Ins went up $300.00 a year.We got the house fix for $20,000.Now that give us $34,000 gain.I'm looking now that I'm ahead of the game,I'm looking at dropping it and if we have more big problems with hurricane's I'll just buy us a mobile home to live in.This is the only problem we have had with hurricane in 52yr. So now I'll be thinking till I come up with what to do.I got a headache already.

Life is still good.

Here in CT the insurances went up before we had the hurricane, damaging nor'easter, tornados and earthquake. This was a loosing proposition on their part, costs in CT have run into the millions and millions of dollars. I think they have some scientific calculation on proposed future damages from storms.

Beautiful pic of a nice room....I may end up in a trailer or motorhome...just depends on what lies ahead for me....the only thing unless they are tied down they tend to fly away like that previous airplane, as MO has lots of winds and storms!  Ma

.... plus the cost of replacing all the personal items, tools, and toys.

If you can afford the insurance without having to change your lifestyle, it might be wise to keep it in place. Just tell your kids that you aren't paying for insurance anymore, they are ... by you reducing the amount they someday will inherit.
