Back to a DFX ??

Seriously thinking of going back to a DFX. I bought a new V3i three years ago and had a problem with it after only a few hours use, sent it back for repair but no definite fault was found. The problem repeated itself and on sending back once again the fault was discovered to be a bad connection on the ribbon. Within weeks the coil failed (don't know how long I had been detecting with a bad coil?). My find rate fell drastically when I moved onto the V3i and unless it is a big target 4-6 inches seems to be it's limit in depth !! Tried every combination of settings with no noticeable improvement in performance and even had a factory reset done to no avail !! I think I must have got a dog of a machine from the start (it even came in a DFX box from the supplier). My conscience would not allow me to offer this machine up sale as who ever bought it would be sadly disappointed so it looks like I'm stuck with a bad buy that will lie in a cupboard. With my experience of this machine I would hesitate to recommend a V3i to anyone else !!

How did you get your login name John

Seriously John, I think a call to White's and ask to talk to Steve Howard could go a long way to make a happy White's V3i customer out of you. 1-541-367-6121

The DFX is a great detector if you already know how to use it but the V3i is much better...... IMHO I wouldn't give up yet on the V3i.

Hi Larry, got my user name from my eldest grand daughter who when as a toddler Grandpa John came out as Grumpyjohn. I'm really not grumpy at all. I live in Scotland so my V3i has been sent back to Inverness (three times now) and I've spoken to the engineer there quite a few times but still have the same problem, lack of depth. Read a few posts on forums from people who enquired about lack of depth and followed the advice given to them but all to no avail !! I'm at a total loss to think of any answer to my difficulty and now the detector is out of warranty I think I'm going to be stuck with it. I have no doubts the V3i is a great detector from what I've read and I think I've just been unlucky !

That would be quite a long distance call to Sweet Home OR but I would at least Email Steve Howard, he seems to be the man that makes things happen at White's and I know White's does whatever they can do to make their customers happy.

When making this post I was considering going back to a DFX. Then I was contacted by Whites UK and asked to send my machine back to Inverness for checking. They posted it off to Malcolm Jubb who tested it out, did a few re settings and it was sent back to me. What a difference !!!! It is like a new machine and my confidence in the V3i is restored !!! When it came to cost there was no charge, not even postage !! Many thanks Whites for making me a very happy bunny !! (Still keeping my old DFX though for nostalgias sake)

Too bad you didn't know what was done to fix it. At least you know what a good running machine is like.

John, glad its all sorted out at last, was always aware that you did not think it performed as it should do,most suprised that James never pick up on what the problem was as he is normally very good,i use Land 1 from Malcolm Jubb in my DFX must admit that was the best move i ever did was to install that prog as my finds tripled after just doing that.

Still love using my machine and if it finally packs up could well update to a V3i.

:clapping:Yes Mega I use land 1 on the DFX as well. Great programme !! Had it put into the V3i but it made no difference to the performance until Malcolm did something to it and now !!!!!!
