You can actually walk, talk with someone and detect with a Garrett at the same time, yet when that nice belltone sound occurs, you stand a fairly good chance of digging a coin or piece of jewelery. And you can't miss that sound either. :)

All the manufacturers should get together and have a rendevous like the old frontiersmen used to have and everyone bring their favorite machine and have a friendly competition at a beach, public park, pasture and a mountain side and see who wins each or all catagories. We would be cleaning up a lot of trash and would be contributing to somebodys economy. Donate ALL finds to local historical foundations or local charities.:rofl::starwars:

You are absolutely right about it not being the best place for an 11" coil. Another thing that made it even worse is the super fast recovery speed of the Pro Mode. Some places in the trashy area I was hearing as many as 6 or 8 targets with every sweep. That can be very confusing and make you want to through up your hands. When I would switch to Std Mode the targets that I would hear on any given sweep would drop to one or two, three at the most. I recovered a dime that was with in an inch of a pull tab. I heard both the mid tone pull tab and the high tone dime when I swept across it. Being so close I thought it was one target and that it was just jumping from the mid tone to the high tone. When I really shortened my sweep (just kind of jiggling it) over the target I was able to isolate the high tone target. When I dug it it was a dime. I checked the hole and heard only the mid tone so I dug it and it was the pull tab. A little later I got another dime right in between two mid tones that turned out to be a piece of foil and a piece of a pop can. Here again I had to jiggle the coil to isolate the high tone of the dime from the mid tones on either side. This thing really has some neat capabilities but the Pro Mode is going to require a whole new way of thinking and listening for targets. It will drive some people nuts because you hear so much more on each sweep. If I can learn what it is telling me before I go nuts this machine is going to really increase my productivity.

Just got back from my first hunt with the new AT Pro, I can say that that was possibly the best $600 I've spent in a long time.
Third target was a silver ring w/ Turquoise and in just about an hour I found about $4 in clad and 2 other small jewelry items and I'm not even used to the machine yet.
I also noticed that it goes really deep, I was digging quarters at about 7 1/2 inches and I didn't have it turn up too high (for stability)
The only think I would say is a bit bothersome is the stock headphones have a cord that is a bit too short and it gets in the way of the screen, but I think I have a fix for that.
Hope the rest of you like yours as much as I like mine.

Happy Hunting

Thanks for that report. I suspect we will be hearing more as people get a chance to get out and hunt with them. I am still waiting for mine. :(

I was told that the accessory coils along with all of the 8.5" x 11" coil covers that I ordered will be coming out at the beginning of December so it may be a little longer than that even.We should have some chest mounts for the AT built by then so that you can see the VDI numbers on the display when you are out in the water.

That is a very good point Frank. I just measured the cable and it looks as if it will be close. If we can't do the chest mount we may have to do one for the hip. If there is a way to make it he will figure it out because he is the best at making them.

Smitty,
Thanks for the report .....It's the first REAL report I've heard yet and it sounds like the AT is gonna be a fun machine to use and it sounds like it will go plenty deep ......A smaller coil is needed for ANY machine when going into really trashy area's ....There are just too many targets next to each other to overwhelm a bigger coil ........Jim
